Beneath the surface of the guns discussion in America—one traditionally dominated by men—there's a complex world of females and firearms. Here, in the following 10 stories, we shed light on what often goes unseen: how women feel about, live with, and die by guns.

Because MarieClaire knows almost as much as cosmo and nannie bloomers and the HAGs women. (Hate All Guns) Lots of nifty constantly changing charts and stuff. Pretty lengthy.

Truth is its all theory until youve been raped, robbed or car jacked. The article seems so convincing with its stats and fluffy format. When you need them most the police are minutes away and they show up in time to write a report and call the ambulance. Seems little consolation and the report doesnt touch on the subject. Sadly most people must unncessarily experience violence before they take action to protect themselves. My hats off to the women being proactive about their own security.

I remember the movie SHOGUN. I believe that Richard Chamberlain starred. He left to go somewhere and left the "pretty girl," the obvious de rigeur to-be-saved female. I guess Hollyweird simply refuses to put ugly or even normal women in the role of obvious de rigeur to-be-saved females, a geisha in this circumstance, pretty, naturally.
Anyway, our hero armed her with two pistols. Lol.

The bad guy came, a HUGE, bent-on-killing Samurai, to off the geisha. As the door was opened the Samurai was confronted with two huge pistols aimed at his middle. He didn't show any shock or fear, being a fearless Samurai, but he backed away and left the obvious de rigeur to-be-saved pretty female safe and sound.

Hoorah for guns. [I mis-typed that first and had "gums." I often misspell "peace" and type "peach." :o)]

Women should be taught about guns at an early age. My father taught me to shoot when I was five and I have loved hunting and shooting competitions my entire life. My fondest memories are tied up with my ability to shoot well and friendships made because I loved guns.
My grandmother and mother and aunts were excellent shots. My granddaughters are doing well. Continually trying to brainwash women against guns has taken on demonic proportions. It is horrible to see the panic and fear in girls because they have been TAUGHT to be AFRAID. The FEAR FACTOR is the CONTROL FACTOR. Remember that!

What PC BS.

My wife had never shot a gun, until we met. I taught her how to shoot, and now she a far better shot than me. :)

She is much safer knowing how to defend herself, than not knowing.

Liberalism - The belief that a raped and murdered defenseless woman, is somehow, morally superior to a woman who shot and killed her attacker.

I was at the doctor’s office Wednesday and the gent checking in at the window ahead of me was scheduling two of the ladies in the office for LTC classes.

I mentioned it to my doctor and she said she carries a 9mm and that two other women in the office had carry permits.

So I guess I won’t feel the need to lock my carry pistol in the truck next visit!

Thank you. My parents taught me that when you’re afraid, your mind closes down and your fear makes you powerless. I found it to be true and have followed that teaching all my life....along with another important thing, Always be aware of your surroundings.

I had a conversation with a woman about guns for an entire weekend one time. She was my combat handgun instructor. Words of wisdom: “If it’s worth shooting, it’s worth shooting twice. You’re going to have to clean the gun anyway.”

Actually, I think a white female could walk up to a male muzzie and simply blow his brains out, without much fear of being prosecuted. A torn blouse, little scratch, screaming bloody rape, and walk away without being indicted. Not THAT’s being proactive.

I have successfully defended myself with a gun twice without firing a shot.

To be honest, one of those times I didn’t even have the gun in my hand. The guy had broken in before and *knew* that I had a gun in my nightstand. In the dark, he assumed that I was armed when I confronted him. He kept screaming, ‘don’t shoot!’

My daughter is armed at all times.

Her young friend (who’s like a daughter - in her 20’s) was afraid of guns, but I bought her one for Christmas after she was attacked. She took to that weapon like a duckling to water.

Many women are intimidated by guns because they simply have to experience with them. Once they’re taught, they relax and do just fine.

Gun safety and training should be taught as a basic high school requirement, IMHO.

Nope!

I’ll tell you though, I was seriously surprised by the percentage of permits in an all-female office.

Kinda made me proud of Texans somehow...
