Although the decision to inform a workforce of 1,400 employees that they'll soon be losing their jobs to Mexico is an admirable one from the standpoint of candor, it hardly makes for a good recipe for workplace morale.
A cell phone video taken at Carrier Air Conditioner in Indianapolis shows the exact moment that the plant and union workers were told that the company had decided to shift production south of the border.
"The best way to stay competitive and protect the business for longterm is to move production from our facility in Indianapolis to Monterrey, Mexico," says the company representative at the microphone.
Although the change would not take effect until 2017, the reactions from the gathered restless crowd were telling.

I would stock up on any spare Carrier AC parts that you might need and not buy Carrier AC that was made from now till 2017 or ever again for that matter. Just a guess but I think product quality would be on a down turn from now on.
It’s actualy 2100 jobs lost, UTX is moving another Indiana operation that employs an additional 700 people.

Well that announcement went over like a lead balloon.
I can see that corporations have the right to do what is in their best interest but have they thought of the consequences of killing manufacturing jobs in the United States?
They may be producing a quality product at what they claim has a very competitive price point but their will come a time when no matter how inexpensive things may be,they will be out of reach of the average American working stiff.
This is happening now with the auto industry.Cars are too damned expensive so people are running them until they fall apart.

Anyone who has a retirement plan like a union, state or local government pension, 401k or IRA portfolio that includes stocks, ETFs or mutual funds has "foreign business interests". Any investor in Ford, Harley-Davidson, CAT and hundreds of other American companies has "foreign business interests." Any small businessman who buys supplies or sells products has "foreign business interests". Almost anyone who has a job has "foreign business interests" to some extent.
I think this happened in Indiana, not Ohio.
Though not in the immediate area, we watched when Fort Dodge, IA lost the Hormel packing and processing plant in the 1980's; the whole town changed forever, and it wasn't for the better. You don't heave a rock like that into a pond without a big splash and a hell of a lot of ripples.

A 401k is different then making a decision to invest a few hundred million in a business located in a foreign country.
A breitbart article says the company was facing pricing pressures brought on by new regulatory requirements. Most likely fighting climate change so blame the lefties.
