Heidi Cruz said Wednesday that her husband, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), was showing America "the face of the God that we serve" through his faith-based Republican presidential campaign.

>>If you rely upon faith to elect someone rather than the voters, you may want to educate the voters instead.

I'm not so sure Thomas Jefferson & Co. would agree.

What she’s saying is consistent with what’s written on the walls of the Jefferson Memorial.

You should be ashamed for posting this crap! That is NOT what she said. The real quote in context:

"When I thought about doing it for our country, it became very clear to me that our family must be in this race. And it also became clear to me that we are at a cultural crossroads in our country and if we can be in this race to show this country the face of the God that we serve" this Christian God that we serve is the foundation of our country, our country was built on Judeo - Christian values, we are a nation of freedom of religion, but the God of Christianity is the God of freedom, of individual liberty, of choice and of consequence. "

And I think that's something that this country really needs to be reminded of, is that Christians are loving people, are nonjudgmental people, but there is right and wrong, we have a country of law and order, there are consequences to actions and we must all live peaceably in our own faiths under the Constitution. And Ted is uniquely able to deliver on that combination of the law and religion."

Now compare that to the BS title from an anti-conservative website: Heidi Cruz: Ted Running To 'Show This Country The Face Of The God That We Serve'

You are really splitting semantical hairs here. "if we can be in this race to show this country the face of the God that we serve".. The Cruz family, which includes Cruz, biblically, as its head, is in the race "to show this country the face of the God that we serve.." I think anyone who holds the fear of God in their soul would never equate their Christian walk or character as the "face of God"let alone proclaim it publicly to garner votes.

Sadly, I agree. I’m glad he’s a man of faith. I do wish he wouldn’t flaunt it for political purposes, the way he did in Iowa. His hypocrisy was evident when he downplayed it in New Hampshire. Watch him ramp it back up in South Carolina. I’m afraid he’ll be seesawing it the rest of the campaign from state to state.

Where do you see anything remotely like, “And Ted is uniquely able to deliver on that combination of the law and religion.”, on the Jefferson Memorial inscription in that post?

Panel Three

“God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever. Commerce between master and slave is despotism. Nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than that these people are to be free. Establish a law for educating the common people. This it is the business of the state and on a general plan.”

Original Passages

“But let them [members of the parliament of Great Britain] not think to exclude us from going to other markets, to dispose of those commodities which they cannot use, nor41 to supply those wants which they cannot supply. Still less let it be proposed that our properties within our own territories shall be taxed or regulated by any power on earth but our own. The god who gave us life gave us liberty at the same time: the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them.” - “A Summary View of the Rights of British America”[4]

“For in a warm climate, no man will labour for himself who can make another labour for him. This is so true, that of the proprietors of slaves a very small proportion indeed are ever seen to labor. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever . . . .” - Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVIII[5]

“The whole commerce between master and slave is a perpetual exercise of the most boisterous passions, the most unremitting despotism on the one part, and degrading submissions on the other. Our children see this, and learn to imitate it. . . .” - Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVIII[6]

“Nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than that these people are to be free. Nor is it less certain that the two races, equally free, cannot live in the same government. Nature, habit, opinion has drawn indelible lines of distinction between them.” - Jefferson’s Autobiography[7]

“Preach, my dear sir, a crusade against ignorance; establish & improve the law for educating the common people.” - Jefferson to George Wythe, August 13, 1786[8]

“It is an axiom in my mind that our liberty can never be safe but in the hands of the people themselves, and that too of the people with a certain degree of instruction. This it is the business of the state to effect, and on a general plan.” - Jefferson to George Washington, January 4, 1786[9]

I actually gasped when at his victory rally in Iowa he said all the "glory" for their victory goes to God. I actually thought when the moment came, the body of Christ would have more discernment. Don't really know what to attribute this to...

I couldn't give less of a damn whether or not he tithes.

I am more concerned with the campaign being turned into a jihad.

Actually, I could care less whether he tithes or not, also - that is between him and God, UNTIL he makes his Christian faith the touchstone of his campaign in religious states. Then, it becomes fair game.

I'm not a fan of Cruz's "Dial TED for Jesus" routine, but I really wish people would stop linking to these libtard sites just because they post anti-Cruz stuff.

Not an excuse, but I really didn't know it was a libtard site, just took the article from Google.

I think she’s just saying that Ted’s faith is consistent with what’s written there - which reflects the faith of the founders.

When I read those words in Jefferson’s memorial, it’s clear that Jefferson wasn’t some sort of godless secularist as some folks try to misrepresent him.

Judeo - Christian is an oxymoron as Judeo rejected Christ and they do to this day. Is it is modern term used to usurp the Constitution, not to uphold it.

How does that term usurp the Constitution? Never heard that before so I am truly interested.. thanks.
