I was being sarcastic. My statement is accurate based on actual recent combat performance in the Ukraine. The Russians even intentionally fired their own artillery at their own very unsteady, and shrinking by desertion, unit in the Ukraine which was named as spetznaz but was really just infantry. All of which comported with Russian military tradition.
I am not certain anyone loves Russians. I think many just respect the fact that Putin is using troops on the damn ground as you cannot effectively bomb enemy troops without men on the ground to call in and adjust (CAS) Close Air Support. In fact, some of the men in the beginning of SOG who watched the Ho Chi Minh Trail in the Prairie Fire AO also reported the size of NVA units for a number of B52 strikes. The truth is we taught the Afghans how to blow up Russian tanks and APC’s and then like idiots we rode up and down MSR’s the same as they did. It takes men on the ground to direct effective air support/bombing.

Colonel Idiot who downed the airliner seems to have disappeared. I don’t see Putin as being too loving and forgiving over a fuckup like that. They may have fed him to sharks or some equally nasty “reward”.
