My great uncle was a large farmer in eastern North Dakota and whenever I visited his farmhouse as a kid there was a loaded gun under or behind every piece of furniture.

Reloading and casting is illegal in NY? Who knew?

Guo Shou, 33, of Rego Park, had 225 pounds of gunpowder...

Now I know why I cannot get me a jug of Varget! Damned hoarders.

Looks like New York Values on parade ...

In West Virginia, that's just an average gun owner ...

Except for the 225 lb of powder. I wouldn't want that much in my house.

Probably for the 225 pounds of gunpowder.

The powder was the only part I found of concern. That's a lot of powder in a 1 bedroom apartment. The gun shops where I shopped in San Diego were required to keep the powder in a wood box with wheels that could be quickly removed from the building in case of a fire. The box was painted red and easy to spot.

I have (3) 8 lb bottles of powder (different powders) and 1 lb bottles of the same powder as "working stock". When the 1 lb runs low, I refill from the 8 lb. When reloading, only ONE bottle of powder is on the bench to avoid errors using the wrong powder or weight.

The breathless hyperbole of the article is par for the pantywaist press in New York.

Pure anarcho-tyranny, if you want the appropriate term for what is going on.

Here in Texas he’d be called a amateur. Only 17 guns.

Based on my pre-hurricane Isabel experience, I wouldn’t consider this inventory “huge”...More like a “minimalistic” inventory...

Other than the 225# of gunpowder, unless he reloaded shells, I see nothing illegal at all.

It’s a crime in Texas too. You’re required to have at least twice that much.

What kind of BS is THAT? Merely owning guns now is considered "1st degree reckless endangerment"???

If he lived in a single family house, he should be O.K., however, if he is in a multi-family dwelling, the 225# of gunpowder could be considered endangerment.....that would make one hell of a BANG!!!!!!!

Yeah, but in a one room apartment, LOL!

No room for a canoe.

Probably for the 225 pounds of gunpowder.

That is the only item that remotely breaks any law. Question is ... what is the legal limit in NY. Its like 5 lbs in Maryland with storage container requirements.

225 pounds is a lot of powder. But if you shoot a lot of different weapons and loads, it might make sense. But damn...that’s literally a power keg. That would have blowed up good.
