PHOENIX — Arizona taxpayers could be on the hook for up to $240 million to help convince adults to get state permits to carry concealed weapons.

Members of the House Ways and Means Committee voted 5-4 Monday to give individuals a dollar-for-dollar income tax credit for the cost of the required course, up to $80. House Majority Leader Steve Montenegro, sponsor of HB 2494, said it will encourage people, who already can carry a concealed weapon without any training at all, to attend the eight-hour course.

The Litchfield Park Republican said police officers have told him the first-line of defense for citizens is someone who has been trained in the use of a firearm. He said the training covers not just the mechanics of the weapons but also the laws about when to use it.

Just slightly off topic but I want to get this out there. If I am a CCW license holder and I am either working or shopping or going to school in one of the “gun free zones” when a crazed attacker decides to shoot the place up I want the ability to sue the a$$ off the building owners that felt compelled to make their building a “gun free zone” Even if it she city state or federal government.

This is about giving tax credits to CCW holders.

They are moaning about how it will COST the people $240 million.

As opposed to liberal government programs which are free, because they are paid for by magical unicorn farts.

You do not have to have CCW Permit to carry concealed or open in Arizona. There are a few perks for those of us that have one though. One being, repreciosity in a majority of states.
