Emily Ratajkowski is in it for The Bern — not the boys.
The actress and model, 24, struck back at feminist icon Gloria Steinem's recent statement suggesting young women are only backing presidential candidate Bernie Sanders to connect with the opposite sex — as debate rages over female voters' sense of obligation to support Hillary Clinton.
Emily Ratajkowski is showing support for Bernie Sanders.
"I am a young woman, and um, well, just to make one thing clear: I'm here because I support Bernie Sanders, I'm not here for the boys," Ratajkowski told a crowd of Sanders supporters in New Hampshire Monday.
Despite blustery weather conditions, Ratajkowski wore a pink sweater with "Bernie" stitched across the chest, and the "I" replaced by the female gender symbol.
Ratajkowski told the crowd that she would like to see a female President, but that she wants the milestone to be "more than a symbol."
Steinem classified female Sanders supporters during a Friday appearance on "Real Time with Bill Maher."
"When you're young, you're thinking, 'Where are the boys?' The boys are with Bernie," she said. She later issued a statement of apology, saying that she "misspoke."
