Australia Cuts 110 Climate Scientist Jobs
Scientific Amerian ^ | February 8, 2016 | By Gayathri Vaidyanathan

SUBTITLE: Because the science is settled there is no need for more basic research, the government says.

With an ax rather than a scalpel, Australia's federal science agency last week chopped off its climate research arm in a decision that has stunned scientists and left employees dispirited.

As many as 110 out of 140 positions at the atmosphere and oceans division will be cut, Larry Marshall, the agency's chief executive, told staff Friday.

"The situation is very bad here," the scientist said. "Eighty percent of our climate capability will be gone; it is clear that climate modeling will be cut completely."

Once you conclude that global warming causes everything, it is difficult to bring your funders “exciting news” to get their attention...............

We life in a fashion world where people get bored easily.

HAHA

When iot was clear that the temperature has NOT risen at all for the last 15 years or so, I had suggested just saying, "Good job! THe Kyoto Protocol worked!" No need for further activity. Australia worked a variation of the theme.

“Climate Scientust” as a profession needed as much as Tosher, Bang-Beggar, Sagger-Makers Bottom Knocker, Pimp Maker, Pure Finder, Link Boy, Slubber Doffer, Night Soil Man, Jakes Finder, and Knocker-Up.

“Climate Scientists” contribute far less value to the economy than those guys did. “Climate Scientists” are a net drag on the global economy because pols believe their bosh and pass laws that seriously hurt all of us.

Good riddance...a pox on all these “scientist” leeches.

Read further. It is a conservative govt? Basic research now done. Does it have practical/economic application? Scientists will fail having to prove this?

On Feb. 3, Marshall wrote in a memo that CSIRO would henceforth focus on commercially viable projects. The next day, during a staff meeting, he said all climate change programs would be cut. Staff would be transferred into other programs, so there would not be job losses, he said.

Marshall wrote in the memo that climate change is now settled science, and basic research is no longer needed.

“The question has been answered, and the new question is what do we do about it, and how can we find solutions for the climate we will be living with,” he wrote.

CSIRO would now focus on a path where “climate and industry can be partners, now we must walk that path to prove our science.”

We should not confuse “Climate Computer Modler” with Climatologist.

Most climatologists never bought into the whole manmade global warming mythology. Some of them lost their jobs as they were denounced as “deniers”.

They perform a valuable service in tracking climate over the years by tabulating real data and letting us know what is plausible in the real world.

The El Nino event was discoverd from climatological data.

People plant crops and build dams, orient airfields based on climatological data.

Climatological data is valuable stuff. It is also mostly ignored or degraded by those pushing climate models.

I’d wager a good amount that most “climatologists” sold their souls to the devil to happily climb aboard the climate change juggernaut. How many stayed pure to their professions and ignored the filthy lucre that governments the world-over were dangling under their noses?

Hopefully they leave with copies of the real data and an appetite for revenge. But I bet the real data is guarded at a far higher security level than Hillary’s top secret email.

> The data has been altered. The model has been fudged. The dire predictions have been made. The science is settled. These people are no longer needed.

Useful idiots. Reminds me of the sheep that were used to bleat out slogans in Animal Farm.

Settled science, I agree with the government on this one. No need for climatologists, no grants, no studies, nothing. Just minimum monitoring. How can the turds complain? If they do, then it isn’t settled science. Beautiful, just beautiful.

Who is going to make all the data “adjustments” that prove global warming? A lot of the raw data shows no warming or a very slight cooling trend. they have to adjust the heck out of it to get all the warming they talk about.

it is clear that climate modeling will be cut completely

Since the modeling has been spectacularly wrong, I think it is a good thing that it is gone.

What will these obviously incompetent scientists do for work now?

Besides making CO2.

Actually, there has been virtually no hard science to support anthropogenic global warming. By hard science, I mean science other than computer modeling, science which actually shows an undeniable causal link - in the real world - between rising CO2 levels and increases in temperature.

They cut 110 global warming jobs? Oh man, that’s cold.

From what I read in the article, very few jobs are being cut, they're just shifting them to other departments, into projects that are more "commercially viable".

The horror!!! lol

Be careful with your claims and wish that science is settled or you put yourself out of a job.
