Narcissism Cruz’s policy
Scranton Times-Tribune ^ | February 8, 2016 | Michael Gerson

Posted on 02/08/2016 8:55:45 PM PST by kiryandil

The GOP front-runners who did not melt down into an oleaginous puddle of self-pity - the winners of the compos mentis caucus - are more different than their similar policy views would indicate. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz are social and economic conservatives, and products of the tea party revolt. But they represent two entirely different approaches to the gathering and use of power.

Each had a defining moment in their rapid rise. For Rubio, it was the Gang of Eight's attempt to pass comprehensive immigration reform. Rubio now presents this as the ancient past, but I'm old enough to remember those days of yore in 2013 and 2014. Rubio was determined to make a mark by improving a broken immigration system and by helping the GOP move past a debate it was losing in a spectacularly damaging fashion. (Under the flag of "self- deportation," Mitt Romney had been recently crushed by 44 points among Latinos.)...

If you think ethanol is an issue for Americans you are crazy. Cruz received 27 percent of the Republican vote in Iowa. 73 percent voted against him which means that Iowa overwhelmingly voted for ethanol. I doubt most of the united states could care less about ethanol. If that is what he is hanging his hat on, then that explains why he is doing poorly in New Hampshire, Nevada, Alabama, South Carolina and Florida.

Gerson, the author of the article, is wrong on two counts (at least) in that excerpt.

Cruz is not a narcissist and Rubio is not a Conservative, even though he lied on his run for the Senate and got help from the TEA Party.

Cruz is a certain kind of CONservative ...he’s an open-borders globalist.
***************************
Cruz was pushing for closing the border years ago, whereas Trump never mentioned it until June 2015 when he announced he was running. Cruz is against any path to citizenship for illegals, as he proved with his amendment to the Gang of Eight bill that caused it to fail.

You are one screwed up dude. Smoked too much weed? What are your definitions of Conservative and Narcissist Actually, Trump is a megalomaniac personality type which includes such as Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, and Mao. Trump is no genius and speaks on a 7th or 8th grade level. And I suppose you relate to Trump because he speaks on your language level. Trump is not going to be President. So you are supporting a loser just as Ron Paul was a loser.

I am simply pointing out that it is not a given that Cruz will pick great SCOTUS nominees...
************************************
Most believed Roberts would be a solid Conservative choice.

Is’t one of the now liberal Justices one selected by Reagan?

SCOTUS nominees can often have decent records and answer questions the right way when in front of the Senate, then they show their true colors if appointed.

The two women who got in under Obama are total wastes!

This is why it’s so important that a Rep. Prez be elected!

Oh do shut up. Stealing land? Buddy buddy with Clintons with big donations? Truman’s words sometimes sound conservative, Cruz’s actions almost always are conservative.

I do not think that Cruz was solely or even mostly responsible for Roberts. I do think that even if you know somewhat somebody as they knew each other, it is not a guarantee the person will do the right thing.

You are right about this. Hillary said she thinks Obama would be a great SCOTUS justice. He would make the two commie women look conservative. Other rats would appoint similar people.

Hah hah, yeah, the Cruzers will probably say “Yeah, so what? Gerson got one right”.

So predictable, but funny.

Bad Supremes get by because the GOPe hasn’t the guts to fight for a real conservative any longer, so we get an ‘almost’. The libs fight for their lib Supremes and get real lib ones.

We got our wishy-washy SCOTUS directly due to reaching across the aisle, compromise style and now some here are foaming at the mouth to elect a non-conservative who’s claim to fame is compromise and making ‘deals’.

“I also knot that he was the first candidate to return seen.” (sic)

I understand you to say you believe that Trump has consistently wanted to return illegal immigrants.

Trumps previous statements do not support that view. Of course, I am talking about when Trump was giving money to the Clinton's and bragging on Bill, Hill, and Obama.

Stealing land?

You can only own land in Alaska. The rest of us rent.

It makes me laugh when people get all balled up about "eminent domain".

It's the government's land & house anyway - they just pretend it's "yours" to make you feel all good about yourself - and to leave you holding the bag for upkeep & insurance. :)

Try doing some major work on "your" house without the true owner's permission, and tell me what happens.

I generally don't post except in response to commentary. Once in a while I might respond to an article, but I'm not sure what you are getting at here.

If you are asking me to criticize Cincinnatus' Wife for posting some article, I don't know what purpose would be served. Besides I think the Gerson article she posted was with regard to Trump. I generally don't offer criticism of folks who post anti-Trump articles because anything that helps to take down Trump is good for the country.

Which of Trump's 'conservative' [sic] positions do you identify with the most?

Federal funding for planned parenthood?

Expediting the return of illegals to the US?

Higher taxes?

Government-paid health care?

Oh yes, when it’s other peoples’ money or situations, it is easy to say. I’m sure if Mr Trump took you to court and took your land and house, you’d be saying the same thing.

I’m sure you are a Hillary gal/guy.
