~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida

Tyndall Air Force Base is a United States Air Force Base located 12 miles east of Panama City, Florida. The base was named in honor of World War I pilot 1st Lt Frank Benjamin Tyndall. The base operating unit and host wing is the 325th Fighter Wing (325 FW) of the Air Combat Command (ACC). The base is delineated as a census-designated place and had a resident population of 2,994 at the 2010 census.

The 325th Fighter Wing’s primary mission is to provide a combat ready air dominance force, train F-22A Raptor pilots and maintenance personnel, and train air battle managers to support the combat Air Force. Tyndall's combat mission is performed by the 95th Fighter Squadron. Training for F-22 pilots is performed in the 43d Fighter Squadron and the 2d Fighter Training Squadron. The 325th Air Control Squadron trains air battle managers for assignment to combat Air Force units.

Headquarters, First Air Force at Tyndall is part of the Air Combat Command (ACC), ensuring the air sovereignty and air defense of the continental United States. As the CONUS geographical component of the bi-national North American Aerospace Defense Command and air component of United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), 1 AF also provides airspace surveillance and control and directs all air sovereignty activities for the continental United States.

The 21st century proved to be momentous for Tyndall AFB. The base was selected as the first home of the Air Force's newest aircraft, the F-22 Raptor. 2002 brought more change as the Chief of Staff of the Air Force changed the organizational structure of the 325th Fighter Wing, from an objective type wing to a combat organization. This organization moved all maintenance activities under the 325th Maintenance Group and all support activities under the 325th Mission Support Group.

Good evening, radu...are you cold? We’re above freezing right now, but the road still looks pretty dry. Maybe with so little snow to still melt, they will stay that way.

Howdy, Kathy.

Yep, cold and gonna be colder the next two days. Had a little snow this afternoon but it didn’t stick. We’ll have snow showers tomorrow and Wed. but no one knows how much will accumulate. The good thing is there was no rain or sleet beforehand so the roads won’t have that ice glaze we were concerned about.

It sure would be nice for y’all if the roads DO dry off. You’ve been slipping and sliding long enough already!

A beauuuutiful sunny day out here on the upper left coast.

The warm sun helps keep the heating bills down too, oh sneaky one :-)

Guess that's someone else's cutie. Had to get up to see if Lake was still here, and he is. LOL!

That lil critter has that look on his face that says, "I'm a lil stinker," and Lake IS one. Just ask poor Jack....

My blue eyes are green with envy! Could you huff and puff and send some of that pretty weather down here? Pretty please?

Kittehs are driving us up the walls. There’s been a stout wind blowing all day as the cold front moves in and the sound stirs them up into a frenzy. Add the new moon to the mix and it’s a double whammy. *sigh*
But we love ‘em any way. Just have to stay out of their path while they zoom through the house. LOL!

Hi Ma, not working yet but am still looking for part time work.

A courtesy driver job opened up at a local retirement community which I'm going to apply for.
