Ted Cruz is wrong about CNN's reporting
CNN ^ | February 7, 2016 | Dylan Byers

Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN)

Sen. Ted Cruz knowingly misstated CNN's reporting during Saturday's Republican primary debate, despite the fact that CNN's reporting was correct all along.

Cruz blamed CNN for a message his campaign sent to supporters the night of the Iowa caucuses suggesting Carson was going to suspend his campaign.

"My political team saw CNN's report breaking news and they forwarded that news to our volunteers, it was being covered on live television," Cruz said during the debate.

Cruz also claimed CNN had inaccurately reported that Carson was suspending his campaign "from 6:30 p.m. to 9:15," and "didn't correct that story until 9:15 that night."

That is false. CNN never reported that Carson was suspending his campaign and never issued a correction, because there was no need to do so.

In a statement out Saturday night, CNN responded, "What Senator Cruz said tonight in the debate is categorically false. CNN never corrected its reporting because CNN never had anything to correct. The Cruz campaign's actions the night of the Iowa caucuses had nothing to do with CNN's reporting. The fact that Senator Cruz continues to knowingly mislead the voters about this is astonishing."...

The Trumpkins are so upset by their boy's loss in Iowa that they will take the word of CNN and the Washington Post, both of which we know LIE as a matter of policy, in their effort to destroy (not just defeat) Cruz.

"Trumpers are seemingly so full of hate they'll believe CNN's version over Cruz; that is how crazy this has become."

Sorry silly rabbit.

Cruz apologized. THREE TIMES. He's accepted responsibility. It's his looney supporters who refuse to acknowledge what Cruz himself admits.

Honestly it's like his "supporters" are really shills trying to make him look worse.

Ted Cruz has a CNN problem.

It's not going to go away. He has to rebut their rebuttal, and he hasn't done it.

OK., that’s funny.
CNN said something that came from Carson’s campaign then Cruz campaign repeated it, and it’s still Cruz’ fault?
You are to rich.
As a side note so did Rubio, plus Carson came in a higher position in tallied caucas votes than polls predicted.
Maybe you should be hysterical over Carson’s team not Cruz.

Cruz has, he laid out the time line on a CNN show, yet CNN is trying to cover their own ass.
It’s the Trump supporters which appear not to believe the evidence.
They are a funny group.

If your could read in #78 , you could clearly see Ted Cruz doesn’t need to rebut anything CNN is claiming.

They only want you to see and hear half the story. Tweets are NOT the Commentary of their ON Air Talent at the time.

The only people he has a problem with are childish individuals that fail to look at the FACTS, Tweets and VIDEO from CNN and other campaigns Including Carson’s and continue to thrash about the fainting chair.

What is easier, to interject a lot of God talk into a campaign, or to show a bare minimum of courtesy to a fellow candidate by allowing him to speak for himself, as to whether he’s dropping his entire run prior to the first vote being counted?

Where does Jesus teach that we are to compare our actions to other’s? Does He not teach the He is our example? He also doesn’t teach that other’s sins mitigate our own. A Christian can’t say, ‘Since these others are not following the Golden Rule, I’m excused from following it also.’

Here is the email that was sent to the caucuses:

Breaking News. The press is reporting that Dr. Ben Carson is taking time off from the campaign trail after Iowa and making a big announcement next week.

Please inform any Carson caucus goers of this news and urge them to caucus for Ted Cruz.

Now you know why these people are supporting the Mouth.

Facts, emails, tweets and Video of the time in question is right there in front of them and they fail to look.

NOPE, gonna listen to a life long Liberal who is gonna do Big, great, really great -no the Best stuff, we are gonna win so much you are gonna get tired of it stuff.

What specifics you ask? As their eyes glass over good stuff, great stuff, winning stuff, Really big, the Best stuff. Oh and Ted stole Carson’s votes. Yeah Really, I heard it on D.U., Washington Compost and Huffington Post.
Plus CNN says so. I suspect Dan Rather will substantiate it any time.

I guess I am explaining the Golden Rule to a group of non-Christians who have no idea what it is.

You are conversing with an evangelical Christian here, and with many others who are also evangelical Christians who find your mis-application of the "Golden Rule" to this context to be completely inappropriate.

Carson failed to look after the details of his own campaign and physically abandoned his team in the middle of a pitched competition.

By your logic you'd expect Tim Tebow to never expect his team to attempt to recover a football fumbled in play by an opposing team because Tim never should have expected that the opposing team even meant to fumble the ball in a way that gave Tim possession of it.

While the stakes are certainly far higher the game of politics is every bit as much a competitive sport as is any other competitive sport.

It is not a negative refection on anyone's Christian faith to disagree with you on this point.

That is the Chicago/ Canadian way

You should know how the Chicago way works since that's just what you are trying to pull on me.

My comment was about the Communist News Network and their LYING about their report.... which I saw.... and how it led me to believe that Carson was dropping out.

NOWHERE in this comment did I MENTION Cruz's name. I am speaking about MY experience...

Also Chicago way....your comment: "F-ing nice Doc Carson"

But there is no evidence here that Cruz did NOT follow the Golden Rule. He has publicly stated he thought it perfectly fair of his people to pass on the CNN news story. The only thing he thinks they may have done wrong was to not pass on the information that Carson’s people had said Carson hadn’t dropped out.

The Golden Rule says that what’s fair for me is fair for thee — if you can find some evidence that Cruz ever protested a competitor re-reporting some news bulletin that Cruz himself initiated, then the Golden Rule would apply here. But you can’t say that Cruz has broken the Golden Rule just because YOU wouldn’t treat someone that way. That isn’t how it works.

Politicians have repeated stories their competitors released from time immemorial. I see no reason why Carson shouldn’t have expected exactly what happened. The fact that Carson is not going against any of the other candidates whose people did the exact same thing (Rubio topping that list) is pretty strong evidence that Carson is not after justice here, but is instead trying to take revenge.

So you are saying that if the positions were reversed, Cruz would prefer that no one verify the info with his campaign? He would rather have every single caucus group informed that he was dropping out, and that a vote for him would be wasted, than have a single, brief call to his campaign, to confirm the news?

So you are saying that if CNN suggests a candidate is dropping out, that’s the end of the story? Extending the courtesy to the campaign in question to confirm or deny the rumor would be taking the Golden Rule too far? After all, from your POV, the campaign might prefer to be fundamentally misrepresented, than given a chance to get the truth out.

CNN didn't use the word "suspend." It merely reported that Carson wouldn't be going to New Hampshire and South Carolina following Iowa. Which is the formulation the Cruz campaign forwarded to its people.

Yes, everyone assumed that Carson's curious schedule implied that he would be reassessing his campaign. I frankly suspect that is exactly what he had in mind, but this sideshow probably prompted him to stay in a bit longer to see if any Cruz voters jump ship and switch to him.
