Cruz: Drafting Women is 'Nuts'
News Max ^ | February 8, 2016 | Loren Gutentag

During Saturday night's Republican presidential debate on ABC, candidates Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, and Chris Christie argued their support for requiring women to register for a potential draft, however Ted Cruz said on Sunday that he not only opposes the idea, but wonders if his counterparts are 'nuts,' Politico reports. "I have to admit, as I was sitting there listening to that conversation, my reaction was, 'Are you guys nuts?'" Cruz said Sunday at a town hall in New Hampshire. "Listen, we have had enough with political correctness, especially in the military. Political correctness is dangerous. And the idea that we would draft our daughters to forcibly bring them into the military and put them in close combat, I think is wrong, it is immoral, and if I am president, we ain't doing it."

Politico reports that in reference to his two daughters, Cruz added that he wants them to be able to grow up and follow their dreams rather than be forced into the military.

"The idea that their government would forcibly put them in a foxhole with a 220-pound psychopath trying to kill them doesn't make any sense at all," he said.

If we ever have to draft women, I’d say that would be a nuts future to imagine.

Draft women and watch the transgender crowd suddenly decide to start using the men’s room again.

Cruz is right.

The warriors should be deciding this and not the politicians, the desk-generals, the political generals, or the commentariat.

It’s strange that one day before the primary Cruz is choosing to focus on this issue.

I doubt that there’s many people out there worried about the draft.

Cruz might not finish in the top 3.

Drafting anyone meeting the criteria to serve the combat requirements and preserve the country in time of war is not nuts.

Creating separate and lower physical requirements and then hogtying the military with weaker personnel that cannot do all the work is nuts.

Become a man, Mister Cruz. Promise to end multiple physical standards for the same job. Show at least a tiny sliver of courage.

Here’s a situation where I disagree with Ted. It’s placing women in combat that’s nuts. However, once they’re required in combat roles, it’s only natural that they should be registered, equally with men. They’re either equal, or they are not.

You're right...it's a non issue....Who is he appealing to?

Typical attorney play which judge strikes....cuz it doesn't mean anything to the case at hand.

I agree 100%. But I’ve been told by Cruz supporters that only feminists believe that women should be required to fight for the survival of the country in a time of crisis.

Then let the dam liberals that pushed for women’s “rights” fight. Mad. Albright and Hillary can lead them.

That’s my argument. A male has to register for the draft just to get college financial aid. And later, to get a Federal job or a security clearance.

Either require women to register, or drop registration completely. . . either is fine. . .

Similarly can be said about the DONEald’s lemmings drumming the fake ‘Carson was cheated’ mantra. EXCEPT female draft has been proposed by some dems and theoretically could become law.

If the situation ever rose to where we needed to reinstitute the draft, it is unlikely a headcount personnel shortage would exist beyond sufficient numbers of males.

Even with Iraq and Afghanistan, there was no need for a draft. Vietnam had a draft because it was started by and operated by dems, who for some reason think the draft is better than attracting and empowering patriotic volunteers.

The dems pushed female draft as some cockamamie ‘equal rights - War on Women’ political claim. The dems ulterior motive, then and now, is likely to create more dislike for the military and thus more dems.

I doubt that there's (sic) many people out there worried about the draft.

No, it's not strange that Cruz brought it up, and there is cause for worry.

If Cruz finishes as you, a DONEald lemming say, it will confirm my contention that New Hampshire is about as politically representative of America as is Newfoundland.

By that we can now right assume the DONEald’s lemmings agree with the dems, AGAIN, this time on drafting women.

The question came up at the debate and Cruz is doing what candidates are supposed to do - differentiate themselves from the other candidates, all three of whom said women in all combat roles was just fine.
