What the Hell Happened to Jeb Bush?
Roll Call ^ | 2/7/16 | Stuart Rothenberg

Posted on 02/07/2016 5:25:49 AM PST by jimbo123

It must be more than a decade ago when I got a glimpse of the man often referred to as "George W. Bush's smarter, younger brother."

Charlie Cook and I were scheduled to speak to a group of Florida business leaders during lunch, but before we began our shtick, the state's sitting governor, Jeb Bush, was to offer some remarks.

Bush was running late that day, so when he finally arrived he blew into the room like a summer rain squall. He sat down, a bit out of breath as I remember it, and quickly turned to the group's executive director to ask what he should talk about.

Add in TN’s Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker both big RINOS.

I look for Corker to run for TN Governor when RINO Halsam’s term is up.

Big Oil money man. Pilot Oil.

Amazing what passes for political analysis and insight.

I read the damn story because Rothenberg has always been serious if not exactly visionary.

But this piece was just typing. Bush smart, family name tarnished, electorate restless/angry, Bush do no good.

Boy, now I really feel in the know!

Stuart Rothenberg at Roll Call can jabber all he wants.

But the reason JEB is doing so poorly is his support for Open Borders and Common Core.

How does JEB expect to be the Republican Presidential candidate when he supports Democrat Talking Points?

It is a no brainer as to why JEB is a mega-failure.

That’s a big worry those two liberal imbeciles will try to switch jobs in 2018. Both need to be soundly defeated along with Lamer!

Nothing happened to Yeb Bush. Same as he ever was.

Just so. Those thinking something 'happened' to him have not taken the time to examine his previous runs for office. He lost in his first run for FL Gov. In his next run, he won in spite of himself against the weak Buddy MacKay. He got re-elected with the power of the incumbancy plus the boost of his brother being President but he was even then a pathetic campaigner. The only thing he's ever had going for him was the name Bush. This time out, the Bush brand was no asset, Jeb had to rely on his skills, of which he had none.

It was very stupid of him to decide to turn liberal in a Republican primary.

Correct. He said he would rather insult Conservatives and lose the primary.

And Conservatives nodded our heads and said, "Okay, it's a deal!".

It’s a good thing that Scott is the governor of Florida.

Florida has flourished under his governance through the slashing of taxes, the slimming down of state government, the dramatic increase in the number of jobs.

Jebbie couldn’t have done it.

the problem with him as a "wonk" is that the "wonk" approach is just fundamentally discredited. This assumes that the system can be managed and tweaked to obtain results. As with education policy, which was Jebs big thing.

As H.L.Mencken wrote, "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats"

This is that time.

Jeb Bush’s political campaign self-destructed because he’s seen as another Romney, McCain, and Dole elite establishment RINO loser. Ask President Romney, McCain, and Dole what they think. Oh, wait, they didn’t make it either — and for the same reasons. The Republican elite establishment RINOs thought it was their time to run and moved heaven and earth to see they got the nomination. Then these same RINOs were dumbfounded when their choices were clobbered by their Donkey opponents.

Everytime I see a Bush I have the worst thoughts. I consider them to be the lowest people in the country. His Brother George was a disaster as president . They are a liberal/socialist family where every one is to serve them. The people are suppose to support their rotten govt, instead of them serving the people.

No one ever became president because he was a policy wonk. Most of the problems facing this country are not complicated. Immigration, education, terrorism, health care, are resolvable and the only thing that has been lacking is political will. Tax cuts and job creation likewise. The electorate has learned that when someone seeks to get into the tall weeds about elementary issues, we should keep a hand on our wallets and a grain of salt handy.

I don't think he needs to stand up on his tippy-toes. At 6'3", he is the tallest of the candidates. Trump is 6'2" which isn't bad. Dr Carson is exactly 6 feet.

All the others are under 6 feet

he blew into the room like a summer rain squall? Sounds like the intro to a romance novel.

I suspect most of them are getting their hats. Jeb has reached his sell-by date.

Add in TN’s Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker both big RINOS.

Corker can't be a RINO, Ted voted for his amendment
