Assuming he's talking about the same 10 year period his income increase is based on that is 41,000 new jobs per month. Or virtually no growth at all.
I'm a strong Cruz supporter but I think he needs to re-examine his statistics. If they truly are what he says then his tax plan isn't the answer. If his tax plan is the answer then the growth should be much higher than he's saying.
WIth no deductions or payroll taxes the plan is simple to administer and hard for pols to dole out favors.
Will there still be an irs, yes but it won’t be the VAST IRS that can terrorize citizens with arcane rules and games, that is inherently political.

I created the MS Access database that the team used to model every computer program interface file in the Tax Processing System. So I actually understand the true scope of the IRS. My individual sub-system was the Notice generating system that writes those terrifying letters from the IRS.
I have also read the Cruz Tax Plan and I can tell you that while it would cut out some of the more complicated computations it will not reduce the overall size of the operation. Unless, of course, he intends not to enforce the law. So this promise to eliminate the IRS is an emotional campaign promise that, obviously, is appealing to many people.
IMO, unless they’re talking of riding us the (illegal) 16th and instituting a consumption tax, it’s all smoke and mirrors. Just more tweaks and carve-outs.
ANY talk of the ‘reduction’ will beget the same...it only took a bit over 100yrs for the ‘Oh, it’ll NEVER get above 3%, and ONLY for the ‘rich’” to come to the tiered anti-Freedom abomination we have today.
Consumption tax. NO deductions, EVERYONE pays the SAME %, and completely, absolutely VOLUNTARY.
My only addition would be to add that each State pays their 1/50(7) directly, move it one step away from ‘tracking’ the populace...and the People have more/better control over their State.
Be done with the slave tax and, FINALLY, let everyone see the cost of govt at the bottom of every receipt.

I like many things about Ted Cruz. But his tax plan is so amazingly powerful I’d vote for him just for that.
No corporate income tax, no death tax, no payroll tax, no alternative minimum tax, virtually no deductions, a very low rate on income, $25,000 per year tax deferred savings accounts for everyone. The 16% business tax/”VAT” that people worry about is a consumption tax and it replaces so many other taxes.
No more tax preferences, no lobbying, massive incentives for saving and investment. This would be better than Reaganomics and would incite a tsunami of economic growth!
Bush Sr. supported sugar sunsidies. Marco Rubio supports sugar subsidies.
Former Reaganite Terry Branstad supports ethanol, Grassley supports ethanol, everybody comes to Iowa and supports ethanol.
Ted Cruz came to Iowa and said no to ethanol! And the world did not come to an end.

Don’t forget seniors, and everyone else, would get $25,000 a year of tax deferred savings and investments.
They’d also get a maximum tax rate of 10% on interest, dividends, and capital gains.
And Cruz’s business tax/VAT rate is 16%. That’s less than half the current 39% corporate tax rate that is already baked into the cake of everything every senior buys.

For now my friend. Adding a new tax is not good. It will START at 16% and only go up from there. Just like income taxes...
I really looked at the VAT aspect of Cruz’s plan. I’ve been violently opposed to the hidden aspect of a European style VAT for many years.
But, in addition to cutting the income tax rate for everyone to 10%, with generous exemptions for low and middle income earners, Cruz’s tax replaces the corporate income tax, the payroll tax, the death tax, and the alternative minimum tax.
Once they are gone, it will be very hard to bring them back!

I think the Cruz plan would be a dream come true for the American economy. And the resulting economic growth would most benefit those in the middle and on the bottom.
If the few rich people in this country like it, too, I say great! Leave the class warfare to the Dems.
I really appreciate your concern! I was initially opposed for the same reason.
But I now think the trade off is more than worth it, for the reasons I posted above.
I’d like to see a requirment of a super majority for increasing spending or raising rates, which would also address this issue. That I guess that’s naive, but with a conservative president and both houses of congress, who knows?

I like what you said about the influence peddling in Washington, but I keep thinking as long as any deductions are allowed, we will continue to fight the lobbiests.
