Ron Paul: Ted Cruz is no libertarian [truth is, libertarians in Iowa stood with Ted]
Politico ^ | February 5, 2016 | Eliza Collins

Now that Rand Paul is out of the race for the White House his father Ron Paul, who ran in 2008 and 2012, isn't impressed by Ted Cruz's attempts to pick up the "free market" libertarian banner.

"You take a guy like Cruz, people are liking the Cruz - they think he's for the free market, and [in reality] he's owned by Goldman Sachs. I mean, he and Hillary have more in common than we would have with either Cruz or Trump or any of them so I just don't think there is much picking," Paul said of the Texas senator on Fox Business' "Varney & Company" on Friday.

Surprisingly, the elder Paul seemed more attracted to the views of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who is giving Hillary Clinton a run for her money in the Democratic primary.....

Cruz DID NOT GET A BUMP in Iowa because everyone knows he pulled dirty tricks.

EVERYONE KNOWS... Cruz cheated in Iowa.

People do not like cheaters, and it’s why he got no bump in the polls out of Iowa.

Cruz will not win another State.... Unless he cheats again.

The question is how many farmers voted for Cruz? That would be an interesting look and see if they agree with Cruz.

TED CRUZ IS NOT A LIBERTARIAN.

Thank you for clarifying that Ron fake eyebrows Paul.

Hey remember the time cruz stood up and declared he is a libertarian?

Said no one ever.

Glad he’s not a libertarian . I wouldn’t vote for him if he was.

"I keep hearing the constant drumbeat than Cruz only won by 3 or 4 percent."

Which yielded approximately one more delegate than Trump or Rubio ie 8-7-7.

This is conveniently also the area code you have to dial to reach Cruz for phonejobs, election fraud, or whatever...

To me, that is extremely significant and revealing of Ted Cruz and his principles.

He campaigned for Senate on conservative principles and, where, other people are so eager to be liked and make friends in the Senate or so awed by that august body, they immediately go along to get along, Ted stuck by his principles.

The same was true in Iowa. Of course, he wanted to win but not bad enough to abandon his stance on the ethanol subsidy. The governor fought him bitterly and I’m sure it hurt him with some voters, but he still won.

Trump is tempting. He screams out all the things you want to hear. He even uses ‘strong’ language to make it all the clearer.

But Trump cannot be trusted to follow through. If you will look at his year to year record, it’s changeable.

If you look at his day to day record, that is changeable too.

As Jimmy Carter so elegantly put it, Trump is malleable. Do we really want a wheeler dealer, change with the wind guy?

Did you see the statistics on Bernie’s popularity with young people? Overwhelming.

Scary.

I hate politics. Jebby brought out his Mom (a wonderful woman)and so Rand brings out Ron.

Is that really the same thing?

Rand dropped out, and now Ron pops up.

Rand Paul may have asked his father to keep out of it when he ran.

Jeb's turned to mom and big brother now that he's desperate, but even before that, he used his family in his campaign a lot more than Paul did.

That is an encouraging trend to me.

Trump is now blowing off Iowa so maybe his followers should forget their labored attempt to explain it.

Home truths.

Desperate Trump supporters are bitter clingers to a few things they’ve been led to or want to believe about Cruz.

First was Canada ... you don’t hear much about that anymore since it was settled by a court.

Then Goldman-Sachs. They don’t explain what they mean... they just say Goldman-Sachs.

I once took out a loan from my credit union. It was easy because I had money in it. They charged me interest, I paid them back. Exactly what Cruz did.

Trump is quite reckless with other people’s money.

Very few Trump supporters know many details about his various deals and properties.

They just know that he’s made money. Well, the fact is, he started with money and would be just about as rich if he had sat in his 80 foot living room and done nothing. And other people might be a lot better off.

This is consistent with all past Gallup Poll surveys on this topic. The number of states in which conservatives outnumber liberals has been as low as 47 states and as high as 50 states. This ought to be a very big story, but Gallup, like nearly every other polling organization, tilts left ideologically. As I have noted in prior articles on this subject, the titles Gallup gives to its stories tell it all.

Okay, but what "conservative" means in New York State or New Jersey or Oregon isn't what it means in the most conservative states.

Self-described conservatives "outnumber" self-described liberals in those states, but liberals plus a large share of self-described "moderates" are able to defeat conservatives.

And even those self-designated conservatives aren't all dying to put Ted Cruz in the White House.
