Ron Paul: Ted Cruz is no libertarian [truth is, libertarians in Iowa stood with Ted]

Now that Rand Paul is out of the race for the White House his father Ron Paul, who ran in 2008 and 2012, isn't impressed by Ted Cruz's attempts to pick up the "free market" libertarian banner.

"You take a guy like Cruz, people are liking the Cruz - they think he's for the free market, and [in reality] he's owned by Goldman Sachs. I mean, he and Hillary have more in common than we would have with either Cruz or Trump or any of them so I just don't think there is much picking," Paul said of the Texas senator on Fox Business' "Varney & Company" on Friday.

Surprisingly, the elder Paul seemed more attracted to the views of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who is giving Hillary Clinton a run for her money in the Democratic primary.....

Yes. But he’s bringing home fractured parts of the base.

Yup, the Libertarian Party, which hardly represents libertarianism, is unfortunately safe harbor for anarchists, pro-aborts, amnesty fools, and pubescent idiots.

Apparently libertarians are supposed to like Bernie Sanders, a commie, because Utopians should stick together

Well, that sounds like “assume” - and you know how that old saying goes...

The way Cruz dealt with ethanol in Iowa was encouraging. He found a way to stay true to his principles yet handle the practical politics at the same time.

Yes. It was common sense, principled conservatism.

It works.

Ron Paul is not all libertarian. Of course, I don’t think Cruz or any of the other candidates claim to be libertarian.

True.

Ron Paul looks left, Cruz looks right.

I hate politics. Jebby brought out his Mom (a wonderful woman)and so Rand brings out Ron.

I don’t agree with everything Trump says.. Sometimes I cringe when I hear what he says. But I want our borders secured and illegals monitored.

This is OUR country. After the last few weeks, I think Cruz is nothing more than another DC politician.

Trump is right about a lot of things.

Ron Paul and Rand Paul always sounded bitter as hell about “something” when they spoke, it was always in the tone of their voice somehow.

No libertarian likes Sanders. There are a few Sanders sycophants who call themselves libertarian, but they're confused.

A political philosophy based on class warfare requires economic authoritarianism, which inevitably leads to authoritarianism in all other aspects of society.

Marxism goes back 150 years now — we've seen this before. Believing otherwise is just naïve.

Trump pandered and wanted to take the ethanol mandate even further left, which would take related subsidies even further left.

Cruz stood by his conservative principles, boldly, and won.

I agree, that’s exactly what worked. A shame there is so precious little of it.

A political philosophy based on class warfare requires economic authoritarianism, which inevitably leads to authoritarianism in all other aspects of society.

Sadly too many have been indoctrinated ["minds full of mush" as Rush calls them] and why we see polls where "I'm okay with socialism" scores so high.

They've been taught that capitalism is EVIL and that socialism is FAIR.

The Left keeps its foot on the throat of capitalism, the economy suffers, jobs dry up and these "minds full of mush" think that's because capitalism has failed. It's more that socialist indoctrination, coupled to liberal politics put into action, has won.

And the media wants us to think conservatism is isolated.

Good piece to expose and discount that notion.

http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2016/02/gallup_we_hate_to_admit_it_but_america_is_conservative.html

[snip]

“.......only three states - Vermont, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts - have more respondents calling themselves liberal than conservative. In two of those three states, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, the liberal advantage is tiny.

This is consistent with all past Gallup Poll surveys on this topic. The number of states in which conservatives outnumber liberals has been as low as 47 states and as high as 50 states. This ought to be a very big story, but Gallup, like nearly every other polling organization, tilts left ideologically. As I have noted in prior articles on this subject, the titles Gallup gives to its stories tell it all.

Here are the titles Gallup gave to all of its surveys reporting the ideological composition of each of the fifty states. I have included, after the title, the number of states in that particular Gallup survey that reported more conservatives than liberals:

“Political ideology: ‘Conservative’ Label Prevails in the South” (50 conservative states)

“Wyoming, Mississippi, Utah Rank as Most Conservative States” (49 conservative states)

“Mississippi Ranks as Most Conservative State” (50 conservative states)

“Alabama, North Dakota, Wyoming Most Conservative States” (48 conservative states)

“Mississippi Most Conservative State, D.C. Most Liberal” (49 conservative states)

“Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana Most Conservative States” (47 conservative states)

“Red States Outnumber Blue States for the First Time in Gallup Tracking” (47 conservative states)

The last item is the title of the most recent Gallup article, the one published on February 3, 2016.

Why would Gallup give such bland titles to its surveys - titles that say nothing of the remarkable fact of conservative domination? Except for the latest reported survey, which deals with “blue” and “red” states rather than ideology, readers who skim the title of these articles will see nothing unusual at all. Who would be shocked to learn that North Dakota, Mississippi, Wyoming, Utah, Louisiana, and Alabama are conservative states?

If the survey results are true, as Gallup must believe, and every single Gallup Poll on the subject shows the same remarkable demographic fact of overwhelming conservative predominance among the fifty states, then this ought to be very big news - revolutionary news, really.

Feb 5, 2016: “Trump Change”

[snip]

.......”Among all likely voters, 52% think Trump will win the Republican nomination this year, down from 63% last week, the highest level of expectation since Rasmussen Reports began the weekly Trump Change survey last August. This now includes just 19% who feel his nomination is Very Likely, compared to last week’s all-time high of 29%. Forty-three percent (43%) consider a Trump nomination unlikely, with 18% who say it’s Not At All Likely, reflecting a double-digit jump in both numbers.”.....

Maybe not, but neither is anyone else in this race, and he’s a heck of a lot closer than everyone else who’s running.

The upside though is that Cruz not being a libertarian means he won’t have a totally insane foreign policy should he get elected.

Of course. When ONLY 6% of eligible IOWA voters turn out to caucus, it is not difficult to win by getting the evangelicals out to vote. Evangelicals do not care about ethanol. They will happily burn oil instead.

NH voter turnout will be much bigger percentage, because it is a regular primary, where voters do not need to spend 3 to 4 hours to vote.
