We Join Ken Cuccinelli In Asking Rand Paul Supporters To Vote For Ted Cruz
Conservative HQ ^ | 2/5/2016 | CHQ Staff

Principled limited government constitutional conservative Ken Cuccinelli has issued an appeal to Rand Paul supporters to vote for Ted Cruz now that Senator Paul is out of the race for president, and it is an appeal that we wholeheartedly endorse and invite our liberty-minded friends to accept.

As Cuccinelli noted in a letter to Senator Paul’s supporters, “Rand has been the most passionate defender of civil liberties and personal privacy – not just in the U.S. Senate, but anywhere in government today.”

Ted Cruz and Rand PaulWe agree.

Cuccinelli went on to respectfully suggest that when it comes to protecting civil liberties and the privacy of law abiding citizens, Ted Cruz is – by far – the strongest remaining candidate among any of the GOP contenders for President.

In fact, said Cuccinelli, “as best I can tell, most of the other remaining candidates consider protecting civil liberties a vice rather than a virtue! Rand exposed several of them in the debates (Christie and Rubio) and, without your support, one of them may very well win the GOP nomination for President. “

Ken went on to point out that Ted Cruz has never sacrificed his commitment to protecting our entire Constitution – including the Fourth Amendment.

From our perspective, one of the key reasons liberty-minded voters should look to Ted Cruz as their candidate, now that Rand Paul is out of the race, was Cruz’s first major foray into “standing for what’s right” in the U.S. Senate.

Less than two months after Ted Cruz was sworn-in, he came to the Senate floor to defend the Constitution and support Senator Rand Paul, and take on the conventional wisdom of the Senate’s Republican greybeards.

The issue was Senator Paul’s filibuster of the nomination of John Brennan to head the Central Intelligence Agency

Rand Paul hates Cruz. He spent much of his debate time fighting with Cruz.

“Rand Paul hates Cruz.”

Well, he’ll have to take a number and wait his turn just like everybody else.

Rand will bite Cruz and push Rubio because his Handler, Mitch McConnell tells little rand what he will and will not do if he wants to retain his Seat in the Senate.

As someone who loves Rand Paul and has supported him in the past, I don’t think his supporters will find a person more in line with their views than Ted Cruz. Fellow Paul supporters, it’s time to get behind Cruz!

“I do worry a little bit more about Donald Trump,” Paul told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Thursday. “The main reason I do is that I believe he wants more power to come to him and ‘he’ll take care of us all’ if we just give him more power, but I’m from a limited government tradition.”

The attack was an echo of attacks Paul made Wednesday, including comparing Trump to Gollum, a villain from “Lord of the Rings” who is corrupted by his quest for the powerful ring.

“I think what Trump wants is bad for America,” Paul said.

Spirited battle does not always mean hate. One can go toe-to-toe with someone you respectfully disagree with on some issues, while sharing some common ground.

No thanks out of respect for Rand. He can’t stand Cruz. So I stand with Rand. LOL. Just this once.

Baloney, they supported each other more often than not.

I don’t hate Cruz, I just don’t blindly worship him. His tactics have definitely turned me off, the push polls, ads that push outright lies like the bulldozing thing, and of course, stealing Dr. Carson’s votes.

These things have soured me on Cruz but he’s still #2 or #3 on my list. I know that Dr. Carson doesn’t have the fire in his belly but I still like him. He’s assembled some of the best medical teams in history and successfully worked with all types in his field.

I’m not big on “political experience” though. I’m not even sure what that’s supposed to bring to the table. Any highly intelligent person can surround themselves with people who know the system and can help them navigate.

Rand Paul hates Cruz.

I have no idea about RP's personal feelings. Nor do I care. But operationally, the reality in this cycle has been that Paul and Cruz were competing for the same block of tea party/libertarian/liberty movement conservative voters. That's why Paul was focused on highlighting his differences with Cruz. It's the same reason Bush spends so much money hammering Rubio. You go first after the guy who is attracting your own target voters.

Btw, this applies to the Ben Carson snit fit as well. Part of Dr. Ben's pique is that his NH leadership group defected to Cruz, as did some of his top money people. And he has been leaking values voters to Cruz for some time.

Now Cruz needs to emphasize the inversely proportionate relationship between liberty and the excessive and selectively enforced tsunami of laws and regulations spawned by crony capitalists, lobbyists, congressional staffers, deified jurists and bureaucrats. Liberty ought to be the salient issue of his campaign.

I’ve been a supporter of Cruz and Rand Paul was my clear second choice.

Cruz is the only remaining candidate who has committed to auditing the Federal Reserve, and has made it very clear that it will happen. It would be great if Rand was nominated to be the Secretary of the Treasury.

That’s because he knows Cruz’s position is closest to his and therefore his best chance to gain voters to is take them from Cruz.

It’s the same reason Jeb has been spending most of his time attacking Rubio.

“Any highly intelligent person can surround themselves with people who know the system and can help them navigate.”

Very true, but will they? a narcissist can be highly intelligent but still surround himself with those who pump him up or those he can put down.

I agree, Cruz would be the natural choice for those who’ve been supporting Paul.
