EXCLUSIVE–Voicemails: ‘Ben Carson Suspending Campaigning’; Cruz: ‘Accurate Report’
Breitbart ^ | February 4,2016 | ALEX SWOYER

Posted on 02/04/2016 12:48:03 PM PST by Hojczyk

New audio obtained exclusively by Breitbart News indicates that as the Iowa caucuses began on Monday night, the campaign called precinct captains informing them that Dr. Ben Carson was suspending campaigning, and instructing them to tell voters they should “not waste a vote on Ben Carson and vote for Ted Cruz.”

The calls were placed after the Carson campaign had already clarified that Carson was not suspending his campaign.

Nancy Bliesman, a precinct captain for Cruz in Crawford County, Iowa, told Breitbart News that she received two voice mails–one at 7:07 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST), and one at 7:29 p.m.–on the night of the Iowa caucuses, which began at 7:00 p.m.

The first call came from a woman with a phone number out of Galveston, Texas at 7:07 p.m. (transcript follows audio):

[inaudible]…from the Ted Cruz campaign, calling to get to a precinct captain, and it has just been announced that Ben Carson is taking a leave of absence from the campaign trail, so it is very important that you tell any Ben Carson voters that for tonight, uh, that they not waste a vote on Ben Carson, and vote for Ted Cruz. He is taking a leave of absence from his campaign. All right? Thank you. Bye.

The second voicemail was left at 7:29 p.m. from an Iowa phone number that Breitbart News traced back to a Cruz campaign volunteer hotline.

Hello, this is the Cruz campaign with breaking news: Dr. Ben Carson will be [garbled] suspending campaigning following tonights caucuses. Please inform any Carson caucus goers of this news and urge them to caucus for Ted instead. Thank you. Good night.

Holy crap.

CNN said Carson was TAKING A BREAK FROM CAMPAIGNING FOR SOME R AND R. That is suspending a Campaign. No it doesn’t say he was dropping out , but he WAS suspending. You do understand what suspending means, right?

If you read the article you might understand.

If you heard what Cruz said, that this was simply a report on CNN, rather than what the Cruz campaign send out to their precinct workers, you would know.

But maybe you don't want to know.

It's called cognitive dissonance. Look it up.

So, you didn't hear Cruz say this was simply reporting what CNN had sent in a tweet?

And you didn't read what actually was said by the campaign in their voicemail to the precinct workers?

Like I said, you really don't want to know, do you?

You go to an article on another candidate for a definition? Just pick up a dictionary. It won’t hurt I promise.

I heard both voicemails.

They said he was taking a break from campaigning.

Oh one said “suspending” which is the same as taking a temporary break, according to the dictionary. But, seems to me some folks around here don’t care to put things in proper perspective.

Oh really, that's all they said?

Delusional.

Cognitive dissonance.

Look it up.

Look, you white wash it if you want to.

It’s obvious to any objective person what was done.

If you don’t want to see it, then don’t see it.

If it’s okay with you, then it’s okay with you.

A person convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.

I’m sorry if that bothers you.

Maybe you could quote where they said he was dropping out in the voicemail.

Hey, however you justify what was done with that to manipulate people in caucuses is up to you.

As Ted said, “it isn’t lying. It is using words wisely.”

Sure.

Thank you for making my point.

One caller says leave of absence and one says suspended. Those 2 things mean the same thing according to the dictionary.

CNN reported Carson was taking a break for some R&R.

There. I’ve broken it down for you as much as I can .

Whatever.

I’m astounded by Freepers’ lack of vocabulary skills these days.

First they understand what a caucus is and the purpose is to try to reason with voters to get them on your team. If part of that is saying “look at this news coming out, Dr. Carson doesn’t appear to be serious about his campaign, don’t waste your vote, come to our team” then it’s no different from any other measure used to get votes at a caucus. None.

Wow, you really don't want to face the truth do you?

Hey, good luck to you, there's no sense in showing you the plain dishonesty their campaign forwarded to their workers. If they weren't using deception there, then I have this bridge I'd like to sell you shares of. Kindly send money to my Nigerian account.

I used to be a Cruz supporter myself.

I'll gladly vote for him if he wins.

Presume to know what I’m thinking or stick with the topic.

You can’t explain away what I said so you start screaming liar liar liar again.

Oh well.

The most clear thing: You can't handle the truth.

It's okay. I like Cruz.

I simply found what he did to be genuinely deceptive, genuinely dirty. Which is hard to dispute if you look at what happened.

Sorry about that.

Have the last word, enjoy yourself, and have a nice day.

I believe Carson described one precinct where a Cruz captain said one thing and the Carson rep said it wasn't true and that precinct ended up going for Carson.

I freely admit I don't know how the caucuses operate but if Cruz had all these precinct captains on site, where were all the Carson precinct captains on site to refute whatever the Cruz captains were saying?

Did Carson only have one rep to refute for all the caucuses locations?

Let's face it, everyone is pushing whatever scenario they choose to believe to justify their support of their candidate. In that sense, it isn't much different than what many are accusing the Cruz campaign to have done.
