It was a means of distancing CRuz from W and the Bush family....with all of the conniptions between Bush and CRuz.

CRuz and his wife both worked (and met) while working for Bush.

CRuz introduced 0Care CJ Roberts to Bush and tesitified for his nomination/selection.

Au contraire, I was detailed to the Bush White House from September 2011 to May of 2013 and have some fairly in-depth first-hand knowledge. Bush considered Cruz a “right-wing nut”.
