An attorney for an anti-abortion activist said Thursday that his client does not plan to accept a proposed plea deal for charges related to making undercover Planned Parenthood videos.

Terry Yates, the attorney for David Daleiden, who faces a felony and a misdemeanor charge, said he is prepared to head to trial if he can't quash the indictment and isn't interested in a probation offer that would keep Daleiden out of prison.

Daleiden surrendered to authorities Thursday, posted $3,000 bond and made two court appearances. "I'm very grateful for all the support from the public," he said afterward.

Sandra Merritt, another activist also charged in connection with the videos, turned herself in Wednesday. Both were indicted on a charge of tampering with a governmental record, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison. Daleiden also was indicted on a misdemeanor count related to purchasing human organs that carries up to a year in prison. ...

If you believe the chances of a counter counter sting are high, then fine. However I am not sure that this would ever reach far enough to turn up Medicaid fraud. PP would scream about fishing expeditions which is a kneejerk word in the libertarian world, even conservative-libertarians.

I see failure to do the gospel thing in reaching to the prospective PP clients. Lots of bloody baby parts, but where is the bloody Christ?

The thing that really would beat the pants off the devil would be the kindness of God shown in a sincere gospel pitch.

The devil is very adept at blame games. Blame games work his element.

He strikes out when asked to produce even a gram of grace.

Even if there is some gain to be had here, it is like why go to the river with a shot glass if you can go with a tanker truck?

Heck, it's already happened in Chicago, Philadelphia and Georgia, and many more that I am unfamiliar with. Many more that remain unexposed.

Let them scream. They scream anyway.

If you have never gone to the front lines, a Crisis Pregnancy Center or at least a Birthright, I would suggest that you don't see the hard work Christians and others are doing to help mothers in need. Chris Slattery's operations in NYC are phenomenal, as are Monica Migliorino's efforts in IL/WI/MI. My own mother put up a young mother in need some years ago, but it didn't make the papers.

Wise words. This bears some extra thinking and praying.

I’d like to see the evidence that such approaches will, under THIS case, be able to penetrate to the fraud (let’s assume we positively know it’s there, that no other lesson in discreetness was learned). The legal momentum is already going the wrong way here.

The screaming WILL be heard, is the point. And the hearers will take action. The legal system is amoral, in a sense. It will swallow camels while straining out gnats, to be sure, but that’s the nature of the beast. It doesn’t care. And people are still leaning hard on legalities today.

It’s very nice to hear that charitable efforts are being made. However the question then becomes why is it a well kept secret; why doesn’t it get discussed the moment one of these PP pimps pops up its head? Can’t blame “media” for everything when it is Christians putting out the publicity. Seems the bent even in Christendom is to lean to the blame side of things. It makes them feel good that they have called wickedness wickedness, even if under the circumstances it is tantamount to arguing with the devil.

I think sometimes we can get tempted to the glittery side of things.

Somehow, Christendom managed to get embarrassed by the early “Operation Rescue” efforts and now the modern light gets hidden under a bushel basket.

It would be wonderful if, before an unplanned parent even thinks about approaching PP, she had ample reason to know there is a kind, loving place for her to go. I could envision large billboards dedicated to “Problem Pregnancy? We have hope that cares about you and the child.” With red-heart logos or similar love symbolism.

We must attend different churches, attend different events, and read different literature. "Christian" covers a wide swath, and the ones performing the charitable works get the word out as best they can, given very limited resources. Here in my town of Columbus, Georgia, a new Crisis Pregnancy Center is opening NEXT DOOR to the abortion mill (shared alley and everything). It is NOT a political operation, but focuses on getting help and offering TRUE alternatives for needy mothers, and help those who need support after an abortion.

Are we sure what thing might be discovered?

PP gets almost half it’s money from the FedGov but doesn’t disclose it’s books... there have been scandals in the past where HUNDREDS of MILLIONS went missing with PP ... The money trail is of utmost interest.

In Texas? Yes, I would go to a jury trial on this political persecution. First, no jury of twelve would convict. Second, if they did, no Texas governor would let that abuse of power stand - or so I would hope.
