I listen to Puerto Rican talk radio online and can understand that the island’s current administration doesn’t know which way is up.

At least the people in Puerto Rico paid for their stuff.

Enclose a pink slip in every pay envelop and watch the fastest repeal in history.

The 90% tax rate might start with only Walmart but that’s not where it will end.

They have too much to lose by cutting ties to the US, and they know it.

I love the irony of Puerto Rico wanting to take 91% of Walmart’s money and then calling Walmart ‘moneygrubbers’

"Walmart tax" which imposes on the multinational [corporation] an estimated 91.5% tax rate

They don't have to leave Puerto Rico.

Just raise all prices 91.5%

Remind the "citizens" who ultimately pays ALL TAXES

Are we still giving PR $17 billion in tax money every year?

Come on Walmart!

You can lose money so that the Puerto Rican politicians can steal it.

What was the Governor’s response to the lawsuit? He accused Walmart of being “moneygrubbers”, a charge that members of his own party have distanced themselves from.

..

Reminds me of Chavez and Venezuela.

A Governor raising taxes is accusing someone of being “moneygrubbers”?

How is that any different than Obama's USA?
We should criticize them?

depends on what is deductible to reach taxable income. wal mart may have some sort of arrangement with pr’s to deduct some otherwise taxable items that wouldn’t normally be deductible or there may some credits that they get.

The US missed an opportunity in 1945 to cut loose with P.R. just like we did with another Spanish-American War possession, the Philippines.

The governing Popular Democratic Party has always affiliated itself with the stateside Democratic Party. The opposition New Progressive Party has members from both national parties. However, it looks like the NPP will hold a primary later in the year to choose its candidate for Governor in the November elections, and the two candidates seeking the nomination are Democrats.
