Donald Trump implodes campaign by being a sore loser
The Washington Examiner ^ | 2/3/2016 | Philip Klein

Nobody likes a sore loser, and by adopting that role on Wednesday morning in charging that Sen. Ted Cruz "stole" Iowa, Donald Trump has effectively imploded his campaign.

Yes, I know. Pundits have been saying for months that one Trump comment or another would sink him, only to be proven wrong. But here's why this is different.

Every other time Trump said something controversial, or insulted an opponent, he was doing so from a position of strength. He looked like the alpha male toying with his pathetic oppnents. His whole brand is based on the idea that he's a "winner" - being not just a loser, but a "sore loser," is greatly damaging.

In this case, Cruz pulled off an impressive win in Iowa. Trump validated that win by giving a gracious - for him - concession speech, even congratulating Cruz. But now, he has unleashed a temper tantrum.

Since Iowa selection of delegates isn't really tied to it's caucus votes, I'm hoping Iowa awards all their delegates to Carson as a gesture to Cruz's deceptive tactic.

Actually, I read that has changed. I think it was a requirement for them to stay first. So the delegate count is now actually tied to the caucus results. That's new for this year, so I understand your confusion.

Folks, this isn’t over by a long shot. Celebrate your Iowa victory, but don’t develop a false sense of security.

This is just beginning.

In other news:
Meet Chad C. Sweet, Ted Cruz’s campaign chairman, former DoD/CIA/Goldman Sachs/Homeland Security.

Sweet co-founded the Chertoff Group with former Bush and Obama administration Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff.

As a leader of the Chertoff Group, Sweet “advocated for expanding NSA metadata collection.”

Meet Ted’s ex-CIA PR guy, Dan P. Gabriel. Gabriel is involved in SIGINT aka interception - which is turned into propaganda. His twitter handle is @danpgabriel and he was one of the people pushing the angle that it was confirmed to the Cruz campaign that Carson was dropping out. After called out on the lie, the agent deleted the tweet and denies everything in typical spook fashion:

“This whole attack by CARSON is all about his failing campaign and sour grapes”

Oh now we are circling back to it being HIS fault. Ok.

Hard to keep up with the Cruz people on this.

Trump may be laying the groundwork to get out of a race he entered originally only to boost his “The Apprentice” show.

Don’t be surprised if he takes his marbles and goes home, leaving his supporters in the lurch.

For Trump, its what’s for best for Trump, not for the country.

That would clear the deck for Cruz.

It think it may very well be. Will be interesting to keep a visual tab on his rallies. Will they go from stadium to ballroom?

CNN reported the story first, how are trump supporters not getting that?

Because if they admit there were no dirty tricks, then they have to face the fact that Trump lost all on his own. In their world, that cannot happen, so it must be someone else's fault.

People complain that no one candidate speaks up when any hint of voter fraud is committed.

One candidate becomes vocal about it and everyone loses their minds!!

No wonder why we end up with loser candidates.

If Cruz had been the one complaining about possible deception and fraud, Cruzers would be going after the culprit with torches and pitchforks demanding their head!!

I'm a Cruz supporter, and I genuinely hope Trump does implode. That being said, where's the evidence? While this article was being posted, Drudge is prominently displaying a link to a poll conducted AFTER the Iowa caucuses showing Trump at +24 in New Hampshire. As Trump would say, there's a yoooge difference between what is and what some people want to be.

I'm really dismayed by so many Trump bashers who are trying to make a self-fulfilling prophesy for what they want to be, rather than an intellectually honest assessment of what is and what should be. Rather than trying to convince people to vote for another candidate, they're trying to bring about Trump's implosion by saying it has already happened. If I had a dollar for every time I heard something like the following, I'd donate it to Cruz's campaign and that would beef up his war chest substantially:

I can't even count how many times I've heard the but this is why this is different meme. It's like the this time Hillary is cooked meme.

I have an idea... let's try to convince each other on the merits of our arguments, rather than pretend that we've won because Trump said one more stupid thing.

CNN denies it, in at least two articles.

First on CNN: Ted Cruz apologizes to Ben Carson

Carson to Florida to get 'a fresh set of clothes,' accuses Cruz campaign of 'dirty trick'

Short answer: NO. People he needs don’t like him and won’t vote for him.

His unfavorable rating is 60%. Something he doesn’t brag about on Twitter.

Looks like CNN was the first to announce that Carson was terminating his campaign, then it was twittered by a Rubio senior staffer, Cruze and team were only echoing what was already out there.
They all shouldn't have re twittered info that explosive without propper vetting, however.

CNN never said Carson was dropping out of the race.

Neither did the Cruz campaign. Here is the memo they sent out:

"Breaking News. The press is reporting that Dr. Ben Carson is taking time off from the campaign trail after Iowa and making a big announcement next week.

Please inform any Carson caucus goers of this news and urge them to caucus for Ted Cruz."

Please point out where the memo specifically said Carson was quitting. They merely passed on what THE PRESS had reported to their workers.
