Milford, New Hampshire (CNN)Donald Trump on Tuesday said his decision to skip the last Republican debate before the Iowa caucuses may have led to his second-place finish in the Hawkeye State.

"That could've been with the debate," Trump acknowledged to reporters in Milford, New Hampshire, where he was introduced and endorsed by former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown. "I think some people were disappointed that I didn't go into the debate."

Trump treated the debate the way Trump supporters treat everyone else. They are too good for us regular voters, so we are unimportant.

Trump says Cruz is a "nasty guy"..."nobody likes him"

Meanwhile...

Fred Dicker: What is it going to mean for Donald Trump to have Bill de Blasio as [New York City] Mayor?"

Donald Trump: "He's a smart guy that knows what's going on really big league and I think he is not going to want to destroy New York."

(Voice Over: That was Donald Trump a little over two years ago, endorsing [Marxist] Bill de Blasio for New York Mayor)

Donald Trump: "I think pretty strongly that he'll end up being a good mayor, maybe a very good mayor."

(Voice Over: De Blasio ran on class warfare, sanctuary cities and ending stop and frisk. De Blasio's sided with looters and cop killers against the police, with teachers unions against schoolchildren and with PC liberals to let the homeless run wild on city streets)

Donald Trump: "I think he is going to want to make New York great. ..."

Trump's later explanation for his gushing support for communist Bill De Blasio for mayor of New York City was something like "Well, I own a lot of expensive property in New York". In other words, he sold the rest of us out in an attempt to get in good with the next mayor! Typical Trump move.

I thought Rubio had some good sound-bite moments at the debate. It's quite possible that more attention would have been focused on Trump had he attended, and thus less on Rubio.

I don't know why Trump didn't go. IMO, the debates have not been his strong suit. I don't think he would have been damaged in spite of withering fire from Megyn Kelly. I think his debate performances have been poor, but he doesn't lose support due to the debates, so he should have gone.

This is the Iowa Caucus; it doesn’t determine who is conservative, and doesn’t determine who will win the primary. Trump may have made some mistakes, but there’s a reason he still has huge support across the nation. To those relishing this Cruz victory, that’s cool, just don’t get too cocky; this is very far from being over.

I guess if Ted loses NH, we can sit here and trash him endlessly as well...right?

Long way to go.

Because as various also-ran candidates drop out, the alternative to Trump won’t be Ted Cruz, it will be the sleaze Marco Rubio.

Shack! Love him or not, Trump is our only hope.

If Trump does not succeed, Rube will be the candidate...Rube represents everything wrong with Washington and will be another disaster.

If Rube is nominated, legions of conservatives will stay home..Hill will win..game over.

As Iowa demonstrated, packed houses do not necessarily translate to voters. Some people go to the carnival to see the sideshow.

Look at the actual numbers. If that doesn't do it for you, blame the lying media hype and your candidate himself.

To quote that famous philosopher, JEB Bush, "You can't insult your way into office Donald!"

Yes...I saw this. He also said that he should have been more organized.

Of course there are those who will say that Cruz somehow cheated or played dirty.

I do not believe he did.

I do believe that the one mailer was ill advised and cost him some votes. He may have won by even more.

I also believe that his campaign seized on Carson’s ill advised announcement that he was going home for a few days. Later Carson’s group clarified that it was for him to get better clothes (which seems odd to me).

But by then the story that his people had announced was already out there.

This was a mistake by Carson that was seized upon by Trump’s staff...and I cannot blame them.

I like Ben Carson. I actually believe he would be a good President.

I support Cruz, even though I was disappointed by the one mailer.

I believe Rubio has been completely disingenuous about the immigration ruckus when he was in the gang of eight. Having said that, I believe he too would be a far better president the Hillary or Sanders...or Bush for that matter.

In the end, even though I am supporting Cruz, I would vote for any of these men (Trump, Carson or Rubio) should they become the nominee.

At this point, I believe it almost certainly will be either Cruz, Trump, or Rubi.

The ratings dropped from 25 million plus to 13 . It is one of the greatest loss of revenues seen in our life time by a cable “new” business

Trump's absence still gave establishment candidates a bigger platform than they would have had with Trump in the room. That plus a ground game is what gave Rubio his boost.

I don’t see Trump as a strong protector of our liberties and there is no telling who he will select to replace SC judges.

It’s not just the debate, Donald. You have the highest negatives of any candidate by far.
