ask anything, as long as compulsion isn't used. People do it all the time through organizations, whether legitimate or not. My point is that the donations are voluntary, although stupid and misguided, and she is not trying to get taxpayer money to remedy her mistake.
Of course she was stupid, she's likely STILL stupid. But "whatever doesn't break my legs or pick my pockets...."
