How Putin Created a Monster in Chechnya
Politico ^ | 2 Feb 19 | Anna Nemtsova

A crazed Chechen leader, once a Putin favorite, is embarrassing the Kremlin by threatening everyone.

Ramzan Kadyrov may well be Vladimir Putin’s most ghoulish creation—a political Golem who remains slavishly loyal to the Russian leader but who also serves as a constant and nagging reminder of how ugly Putin-style autocracy can get when it really goes over the edge. Like the character Smerdyakov in The Brothers Karamazov, Kadryov claims he is only fulfilling the wishes of his master, Putin, with his brutal tactics and threats to political opponents. The Chechen leader considers himself “Putin’s warrior,” and his never-fading mantra is one he repeated to me in an interview at one of his palaces in the Chechen republic: “As long as Putin backs me up, I can do everything, Allahu Akbar!”

But lately Kadyrov’s outrageous tactics—and his tendency to advertise himself as Putin’s attack dog, even outside Chechnya—seem to be embarrassing Russia’s dictatorial leader. Kadyrov’s latest hate campaign comes at a time when Putin is gingerly trying to win his way back into the international community’s good graces after being sanctioned for his nation’s seizure of Crimea and infiltration of Ukraine; when the Russian president has just been publicly blamed by a British inquiry for the assassination of former KGB agent Andrei Litvinenko; and Putin faces a threat of waning popularity at home in the face of Russia’s economic troubles.

The Daily Beast are a bunch of Clinton war mongerers. They love war more than some neocons.

Kadyrov is more respectful of Christians than most Democrats & RINOS.

He also addressed the lunatic Georgia president Mikheil Saakashvili who tried to start a greater war with Russia.

Kadyrov recently posted videos filmed through sniper’s scope where Russia opposition figures were going through their daily things unaware of being at the sights.

Do you believe in a free press even if it reports things you don’t agree with?

He's become Putin's Praetorian Guard. Putin coopted him with bribes and brought this jihadi under his tutelage. His troops fought the Ukrainians too. See this long article in the NEW YORKER for an in depth report on the monster that Putin created.

I found this part amusing (only in light of our pro-Putin fanatics):

On December 19, Chechen police detained a professor of economics at Grozny University, 37-year-old Khizir Yezhiyev, after he published a critical post in social networks. The professor's body was found on January 1 in the forest of Urus Martan region. The official cause of death in the police paperwork said: "Fell off a cliff." In the past neither the Kremlin nor a majority of the Russian people have cared what methods Kadyrov used, but lately the number of those who criticized and mocked Kadyrov on media, in social networks and on street banners has increased.

Kadyrov further incited outrage earlier this month by using Stalin-era language in his hate campaign, pushing for punishment of "enemies of the people" first on a Chechen official web side, then in an article published by Izvestia newspaper. He was referring to journalists of independent radio Echo of Moscow, RBK, Rain TV, and opposition and Russian civil society leaders, who often criticized Putin's politics.

"Fell off a cliff." Where should we look for a culprit? George Soros, of course. lolol

Somehow the sins of Soros are so severe that Putin and Kadyrov can commit crimes without any fear of sanction or opprobrium. Human and Civil rights are not as important as stopping the ubiquitous and nefarious Soros.

There is much to dislike about Soros, but apparently he's the scapegoat for poor Mr. Putin and Kadyrov.

Some people make a convincing case saying Kadyrov might as well say he won the Chechen war. Moscow is paying him tribute every year and he has a free hand to build his islamic state. He has already banned alcohol and de facto legalized polygamy.

Moscow does not rule in Chechnya. Kadyrov has banned entry of federal forces not under his control. Fighting in Putin’s wars is just training the troops loyal only to him.

Quite a short sighted policy from Putin if you ask me, but then again I have never bought into the story of Putin or Russians in general being masters of strategy. Just a short time ago they strategically played themselves into the position where they didn’t even have toilet paper and had to beg their western enemies for food aid.
