Reagan Conservatism Dominated Iowa

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: The establishment's out there going nuts, folks, thinking that they have made a giant recovery here.

But at the end of the day, what do we have? We have Rubio. We have Ted Cruz. And I'm gonna throw Ben Carson in because this is a crucial point. We have two genuine disciples of Ronald Reagan in the top three places in Iowa. We have a very strong outsider in Donald Trump, who is showing the way in illustrating how to oppose the establishment and what not to be afraid of. And then we've got Ben Carson. And I would have to say Ben Carson is a disciple of Ronald Reagan. When I listen to Ben Carson talk, I hear Reaganisms.

I know I hear them when I listen to Cruz, and Cruz openly admits he's a Reaganite. Ditto with Marco Rubio. So three of the top four finishers last night are Reagan disciples with a party that is urging -- its establishment is urging -- that we get rid of "the Reagan fetish," that we finally realize "the era of Reagan is over." It isn't. It's the salvation! We have tried it the establishment's way I don't know how many years starting back in Bill Clinton's era. We have tried it with the Northeasterner moderates. I mean, we even nominated a nice guy, Mitt Romney.

We nominated a guy who was the architect of Obamacare on the premise that we're gonna repeal Obamacare. It was... This is one of those things Saturday Night Live makes jokes about. Sixty percent of the Republican vote in Iowa last night went for two Hispanics and an African-American, and 100% of the Democrat vote went for a couple of tired, old, decrepit white people.

Rush pointed out that Trump’s hurt himself with his attacks on Cruz from the Left, his Left wing attacks.

Iowa voted as it always does, for the righteous. Cruz is too righteous for the broader American public.

Reagan lost 2 Iowa caucuses. The first time to Ford and then to HW Bush.

“Cruz is too righteous for the broader American public.”

If that is true this country is lost.

Oops. Rush's jumped the shark again - on Rubio!

Calling the Rubio camp Reaganites, stretches it out well beyond the pole.

I know Rush know's Rubio's the establishment second choice for JEB! What in the world is Rush doing refashioning Rubio as a "conservative?"

Rush himself also knows Rubio is a RINO liar and has as much as admitted so.

Husband called to ask, "What's going on with Rush?"

I told him "Rush's gotta make nice with all those in the playpen for whomever he has to go with in the General Election, though it's a turn around for Rush."

Listen and see if Levin reestablishes Rubio's street creds.

If that happens, the talk radio conservative mouthpieces have drunk the koolaid and forever ditched their audiences in favor of their advertisers!

I turned off Rush, Hannity and Levin over a month ago, and haven’t regretted it. They are paid shills just like the MSM. People need to get off their addiction to these talking heads who think they are more important than what they are.

Rush claiming Rubio is NOT GOPe, but you knew that right?

Good luck, it’s going to be wall to wall Rubio coverage.

You seem to be having a bad day. Try to put things in perspective. I mean it’s not like Trump hasn’t always been a very modest man. He’s always a good sport and a real gentleman.

He also hurt himself by not participating in the debate. He could have held the fundraiser the next day and he would have come out in first place by probably a large margin.

Can't deny that.

I did it to Hannity in at least 2012 or before and Levin was carried locally, then off, and back on again. Rush has stayed but have turned him off this cycle as I could hear waaaaay to much RINO nutty "news" coming from the airways!

I'm assuming the pro-Rubio is coming straight from Rush's Katherine if not the man himself but sure Rubio has reminded Rush, he was an early supporter of him.

Guess Rush didn't hear Rubio's selling out his early supporters when he began going steady with Chuck Schumer!!!

If you are right, that just tells me that Iowans are self-important, egotistical, narcissistic a-holes who are always screaming for attention.

Which does sort of explain how they launched Obama into the White House.

Cruz verbalizes Reagan like he does the church. It hides his votes and cloaks his globalism and lack of being America first. Above all else Reagan was America first, that’s what the shining city on the hill really meant. Close the freakin’ borders and get our jobs back, that’s Reagan. Only one candidate is really singing that Reagan tune: Trump.

Quote from Rush: "When I listen to Ben Carson talk, I hear Reaganisms."

His opinion, his right to his opinion.
