Posted on 02/01/2016 3:07:17 PM PST by markomalley

A search shows that nobody's opened up a live thread for tonight's caucuses. So here goes.

Predictions? For both the GOP and Dem nominations?

Eyewitness Accounts? See any funny business going on?

HUH? I asked for a link to Trump’s concession speech ... What are talking about? You’re confusing me with someone else?

LOL, I think this election is going to be one for the books. I’m predicting Bernie wins. Everyone else is playing dirty tricks and games. I stopped and listened to Bernie’s speech tonight. He almost convinced me that all public colleges should be free and everyone should be on S.S. (I agree that everyone paying into S.S. would be better than obamacare.) I will stand by Trump as the only hope for America. If he fizzles out I will vote for whoever wins without any hope at all that they can win.

Actually, they did, because one has to look at how CRUZ won in Iowa:

The number that I've read in multiple sources was that Cruz had 12,000 volunteers in Iowa. So, Cruz got 4.3041 votes per Cruz team volunteer. The ratio would be lower if paid Cruz campaign workers are included, making the denominator "Cruz team members".

I've not seen an exact number for what Cruz and Cruz supporters spent in Iowa: It'd be interesting to know how much each vote cost. Didn't Cruz say he'd spent more than the next 4 (in spending) candidates combined?

I believe I could win Iowa, with a machine like that behind me. This is great, if it can be sustained.

The elites have no control of this situation. If Trump goes out, most of the votes will go to Cruz, not Rubio. Trump’s voters are, by their very nature, extreme. Rubio is NOT extreme.

The voters in Iowa went 62% anti-establishment. They’re not going to go out of their way to vote for the GOPe Rubio.

I made two contributions of $50 each.

There will no doubt be more from me...

The NWS made all those same dire predictions for us here in SW Nebraska (9-14”) At present, we have perhaps 2” of snow and a LOT of howling wind ... These idiots should be limited to forecasting “gradual light followed by gradual darkness” - and that’s it! They did early dismissal for my wife’s H.S. today, and tomorrow’s classes are cancelled. I had a KoC meeting tonight, and it was also cancelled ... Not the first time these geniuses have gotten it wrong here - but who knows what “surprises” tomorrow shall bring!

No offense taken - did not even look at it that way ... My brother graduated with a Masters in Divinity, etc ... But he never became a priest ... And “the rest of the story,” I’d have to tell you privately!

It will be interesting to see how NH and SC turn ... My guess is that the GOPe are going to throw everything into the Rubio run, including the kitchen sink ... I’m not sure who they fear more - Trump or Cruz. But perhaps it matters not, b/c if tonight’s turnout is a reflection of what’s to come, then your guess is as good as mine.

My greatest fear is that, if Cruz wins the nomination, he will get destroyed in the general ... Some areas may indeed be very evangelical / religious, conservative - but, unlike back in Reagan’s time, I seriously doubt this is a center right country any longer ... Electing Obama TWICE pretty much convinced me of that reality.

“...She must have made a pact with the devil.”

That is probably closer to the truth than any of us are wont to believe ... I am of the opinion that both her and Bill are demonically possessed. The fact that they get away with corruption, larceny, bribery, election fraud, rape, murder AND treason - is perhaps the most conclusive evidence there is that both sold their souls to the devil.

Think about this.

Only 18% of eligible voting age people voted for Obama. He was elected by literally 1/6 of the people.

Now consider that 75%of Christians stayed home and did not vote.

I think it is more likely that they are related to "the man of wealth and fame" (per the Rolling Stones).

I noticed before during and after the debate, Fox really didn’t get as nasty with trump as I thought they would. They didn’t try to use his not showing up against him really and then they almost gleefully reported how he was ahead of again blah blah blah.... I think they set him up for failure.... I see that nou w. And all of a sudden, they are unleashed and saying nanner nanner you shouldn’t have skipped our debate....

This is not about what voters want. It’s what the elites want. Cruz will be turned into Pat Robertson.

If you want to climb down from your Trump hatred chair and be objective, do you think six months ago ANYONE would have said Trump could get 38,000 votes in IA? I would guess Palin had a lot to with that.

The GOPe on Twitter saying Trump brought in a ton of new voters but at the last minute they went squishy for Rubio. We’ll see.

They usually don’t. This was played perfectly by the GOPe so far:

1) put up a roadblock to Trump sweeping, enough to create doubt;

2) remove debris like Carson and scatter hi support;

3) begin the Rubio “surge”;

4) bait and switch the “conservative enough” Rubio for Cruz

>>Are you tired of winning yet?

LOL. No, not yet. I turned on the TV this morning and they announced the Cruz win and then showed 2 minutes of Rubio speaking. So, who won?

>>I’m not happy about the language and name calling, but I’ve been ticked off about that for a while now. I’m a Cruz guy. I have dealt with so much crud from trump supporters, more than you might believe, it was very, very nasty.

As a Trump supporter, I’ve been dealt a lot of crud from the Cruz fans, mostly questioning my conservatism and my faith. I haven’t seen ANY of that from the Trump crowd. Until the stupid birther and GS issues came up, most FR Trump supporters have stated publicly that Cruz is their #2 guy. Those two ridiculous issues made some Trump folks get nasty, but we still don’t question a person’s faith or conservatism. Those two topics should be beyond reproach for any FReeper.

Some of the nastiest birthers have been using those two tactics since 2008. Not all of them, mind you. It's a minority, but they are vocal and vicious. It will toughen your skin. That's for sure.
