WOW! Guess there weren’t semi loads of them lined up waiting to be dispensed then? Suppose there’s a few hanging around in South Korea? LOL! The Koreans produced M16A1s under license from Colt, then their own Daewoo K1 and K2 designs for several years, so I'd guess not. But there are still quite a few in Colombia.
And the Israeli Mash'az Police reserve still use the M1 carbine quite a bit,
