Good read.
As a kid my big thing was Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, the Lone Ranger, Superman...
I also liked the radio programs.
I saw Gone with the wind rather late in life, probably in my mid 30s. There was George Reeves and his twin brother on the front porch of the plantation home at Tara.
I remember the Lone Ranger on TV. And Sky King.
Saturday Mornings were the best!

Are you referencing my comments, or are you saying you’ve read the books?
If there are books and one or both are good, I wouldn’t mind hearing your take.
Otherwise, just thanks for the comments.
We watched Sky King also.
Flicka.
Lassie.
Lucy.
Jackie Gleason.
And of course, Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Greenjeans.
Loved Jackie Gleason! I think it was my Dad’s favorite show.
And I’ve never gotten over the desire to own a Collie dog of my own :-) Never got into Rin Tin Tin that much, but I wanted Lassie!

The "Mississippi Aerial River Transit" system lingered for a few years after the fair closed, with discussions about possibly keeping it in operation as a commuter transit option between downtown and Algiers (Orleans Parish, west bank). Eventually it was torn down.
I used to work in that tall building on the far right. Had a river-facing window that looked out at the "MART", so I saw it disassembled. Rode the thing once during that world's fair - I don't think my girlfriend opened her eyes the whole time we were up there.
LOL! I remember some kind of character on kid-tv called Mr. Wizard’, and for some reason I conflated that with ‘Lizard’, and was afraid to look whenever the Wizard came on. I guess I had been scared by a lizard at some point ;-)
The stuff we remember...

I still wouldn't mind owning a Sheltie at some point, although I hear they are a hand full.
Found this looking for the proper spelling of the Sheltie breed.
Amazing.
BTW: I like Gleason too. That Jane Meadows was something too, and Art Carnie and his wife on the show.
...and Rin Tin Tin.
My brother had a Sheltie that he adored. I don’t think he’s ever gotten over losing her - she had a seizure one night, and just died.
She was a very neurotic dog, and only my brother could handle her. They are sensitive and very smart, and they need a lot of good, gentle training. I think her problem was that she wasn’t trained properly from the get-go, but if you get in there at the beginning you can make them into good companions.

He was a funny little timid character that always got himself in trouble, and Mr. Wizzard was there to get him out.
I don't remember the dynamics accurately now, but I watched the show too. It was a cute show.
Of course there was the Rocky and Bullwinkle show. Man those shows were creative. They were very funny. They also subtly instilled a knowledge of right and wrong.
Rocky
Bullwinkle
Mr. Peabody
Boris
Natasha
Dudley Do-Right
Nell
I went through this period where the bad guys were on the side of my bed at night. I wouldn’t even look in that direction.
Inexplicably, the side would change once in a while and I’d keep my back to the other side for a while.
Yep, seriously...
It also has to do with their weening. Some animals are very touchy about that. If you do it too early, it can really screw them up.
Can’t say if that’s the case about Shelties, but it is with some other animals.
I have heard they are high strung. They need to be occupied. If you keep them busy, they are most happy and seemingly well adjusted.
I have no doubt good training would enter in. It would be a good idea to talk to a person who has trained them, to know exactly how to handle them.
So, how many automobiles will each of those cablecars carry in order to ease the traffic on the bridge?
I couldn’t tell you; however, I drive a van pool van, and we take 8 cars off the road. :-)
Carter era joke: What makes the Key Bridge and Jimmah Carter alike?
