Unbelievable – Ted Cruz Campaign Sends Out Personal “Shaming Letters” To Iowa Voters…
conservativetreehouse ^ | 1/30/2016 | sundance

Posted on 01/29/2016 10:28:45 PM PST by 20yearsofinternet

The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections. They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year. In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.

The text reads:

"You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses".

In an effort to shame the recipient, the notice also informs the targeted voter their neighbors have also been notified of the recipients poor voting record.

Donald Trump is the rich jock who crashes the meeting of the AP US History AP American Government geeks who are planning the class trip to Washington DC and throws out his own suggestions, which they hate.

Ted Cruz is the debate team AP US History AP American Government nerd who shows up at the prom committee meeting and proposes "Resolved: the rule of Happersett v. Minor must be clarified" as the prom theme.

It's not surprising that this intrusive "good citizenship" move comes from his campaign.

“Better pray that Trump has really converted from his past. If not, then the nation is pretty much doomed. “

Agreed. And I’m a YUGE Trump supporter. But you’re right: will Trump do (or at least try to do) the things he says he’s going to do. If not, then he’s no different than any of the rest of our worthless politicians. And indeed if a total political outsider who self-funds and thereby doesn’t have a gaggle of campaign “donors” who own him can’t (or won’t) change anything , then INDEED this country is DONE.

And I’ll add, I will personally turn my back on the whole political kabuki theater and live out my few remaining years to my own personal satisfaction and to hell with our country and the fools who occupy and run it.

And then there’s the concluding THREAT: “A follow-up notice may be issued FOLLOWING Monday’s caucus”

What’s the purpose of this naked threat POST-CAUCUS? And what pray tell would be in this “follow-up” notice: “The goon-squad will arrive tomorrow, kick your door down, and drag out your first born male heir” because you didn’t attend caucus? What is this, the Soviet Union where caucus attendance is mandatory?

The one counter to your idea of Trump turning into another lazy golfer type is his fanatic energy (in a good way) at his age on the trail. He’s really gone way above and beyond.

That’s an interesting observation, except the Cruz campaign has taken responsibility for it. Care to try again?

Says who.?? No major website is caring this.. Why? They can’t confirm it!!!!

Then I guess other campaigns are more careful about exposing their creepy vote stalking, unlike Cruz here.

Yep. I think part of what explains them doing the piece is that it is so common place in campaigns nothing seemed offensive about it.

However, people are not getting freaked out when phone banks call, they ask how did you get my phone number, how do you know the name of my husband/wife?

As far as your neighbors voting habits, that is just the start of it. Besides showing what elections they have an have not voted in, list show when they first registered and where, DOB, present and previous address, party affiliation, change in party affiliation and when it changed.

Nope not done by Cruz.......you will see.

Effective last hour dirty campaign trick if Cruz campaign is not responsible for it. Still time to get word out they did not do it. Have you seen that announcement?

ANOTHER CONFIRMATION THE MAILERS BELONG TO CRUZ. CONFIRMED BY STEVE DEACE.

“AMES, Iowa- Iowa radio host Steve Deace, a top Ted Cruz endorser in this state, claimed on Saturday that controversial mailers sent to Iowa voters by the Cruz campaign were inauthentic, despite the fact that the campaign itself confirmed they were real.
Deace later acknowledged having erred, tweeting that he “stands corrected” and that, “The mailer that has Team Rubio upset is in fact from the Cruz campaign.”

The problem is them saying your neighbors are going to find out what you did or didn’t do.

That’s just sleazy. It’s a despicable threat.

It’s slithering snake stalker crap.

It just makes Ted Cruz a creep. I don’t know of any other way to say it. It’s repugnant.

I’m done with him. He isn’t who I thought he was.

"Do you think Donald Trump is above resorting to dirty tricks? I do not."

I doubt Donald would do this. A man who sleeps with other men's wives and is proud of it and thinks he has no need of forgiveness is capable of pretty much anything. But whatever else Trump may be, he isn't stupid. And this would be a very stupid trick. It might work in Iowa, but, eventually it will be tracked back, and somebody is going to be hurt badly by it in the long run. If it came from a campaign rather than a misguided PAC, that candidate is dead.

Obama did it and got away with it, but the press was still in full suck-up mode with him at that time (and still are pretty pathetic), so it never really saw the light of day.

Good grief. It’s a campaign. Not a single Trumpee cares about the total vileness of The One.

Funny how this is making a big splash, but when Obama did it, the press wouldn't touch it. No outrage.

Conservatives expect better behavior from their candidates, and there is obviously a double standard in the press' treatment of conservatives, and I know that you agree.

Cruz peddled the line that he is an outsider from the DC establishment but his campaign hypocritically uses the same sleazy tactics that the DC establishment is famous for. Wow.

Cruz’ spox was upfront about responsibility for the mailer - their return address is on it! - but there’s a backstory here, and I suspect related to the 7 staffers leaving story, which has been completely dropped.

The fact that NO campaign is discussing this.. something fishy.
