Donald Trump counter-programmed Thursday's GOP primary debate on Fox with his own prime time event. So whose show scored a bigger audience?
Answer: Fox's debate. But it was the second lowest rated debate of the season. So Trump is certain to take credit for hurting the channel's total viewership.
Fox News Channel's Trump-less debate had an 8.4 household rating, according to early Nielsen data from so-called metered markets.
This means 8.4% of American metered market homes with TV sets were watching the face-off.
By comparison, two of the cable channels that showed parts of Trump's event, CNN and MSNBC, had about a quarter of Fox's audience combined.
So Trump's rivals clearly came out ahead in the raw ratings.
The most recent GOP debate, televised two weeks ago on the harder-to-find Fox Business Network, had a household rating of 7.4.
So Thursday's debate was bigger -- but not by much. The other five GOP debates of the cycle have had household ratings ranging from 8.9 to 15.9.

You're so far behind the curve that it's not funny. There's a new paradigm at play. Liberal and conservative don't matter anymore. As far as politicians are concerned those are empty terms used to fool the voters.
I voted for (and supported to the tune of thousands of my hard earned dollars)the most pro-life and conservative candidates I could since 1984. What did it get us? Nothing good! We elected GW Bush and gave him a GOP Congress so he could create new entitlement programs, strengthen federal control over public education and balloon the federal deficit to mind boggling proportions. Not to mention how hard he fought to win amnesty for illegals. His bungling gave us obama and the destruction we've seen for the last 7 years!
You show me videos of where Trump said he hated this country, or where he's said that the world is more unstable with only America as a superpower, or where he's said that we need to fundamentally transform the US. It's not about left vs right. It's about those who love this country and want to save it vs those who would destroy it.

The comparisons of Trump to Hitler over the past several weeks by posters trolling Trump threads were typical Alinskyite tactics, but to compare veterans who attended Trumps event last night and his supporters to Hitler is beyond compare and not the words of a conservative. Sniff. Sniff.

Your take of the rally does not match reality. CSPAN callers including rats all had high praises. I have never heard such agreement on CSPAN so YOU are the outlier.

Te one and only reason FNC wanted MYGIN on as a mod is because they thought they would get to see another pissing match between Trump and MYGIN. Instead, Trump didnt bite and the NPD bitch tried to get a match going with Cruz. Cruz nearly fell for it, but he saw it for what it was worth and denied the little snip her fantasy.

Very good analyses. Also considering the wide number of other than CNN carrying the event, the Trump view numbers can’t be accurately accessed. C-Span coverage was excellent straight through....and a good cameraman to boot!

I watched about 10 minutes of Fox prior to the debate and couldn’t take Kelly bragging to Brett about how much time and effort they had put into developing the questions they were about to ask the candidates. This “dig me” culture makes me want to throw up.

This follows the pattern where one trumpmeister makes something up, then tells his trumpified friends, who the repeat it back to the original trumpinator who instantly believes it then it becomes trumpgospel, which shall not be questioned for lo! it is written on the trump tablets.
A circle jerk confirming trumpfacts that they then use constantly in the arguments. Like "trump will win 50 states!" Or "trump will win the black vote!" Or "Cruz can't beat Hillary!" Or "trump is worshipped like a god in NYC!" Or "trump is going to close useless federal agencies and wipe out the debt!"
Ailes held his ground.....and lost his ratings.
We still have cable due to work email through RoadRunner, but getting ready to cut completely.
We were disappointed we couldn’t seem to get streaming 24 hour news such as FOX, CNN, etc.

From the phone Calls after the show,Trump evidently is picking up many cross over votes. The show was beautiful and very well done with the emphasis on the vets straight through. Huckabee and Santorum added a bit of their humor and support, a really nice touch. I simply enjoyed the entire show and wished it had been longer than an hour. Others felt the same.
