Donald Trump Could Do Something Unprecedented In Modern Elections
Huffington Post ^ | 01/27/2016 | Matt Fuller and Robert Baldwin III

Donald Trump may be about to do something that has never been done in the modern presidential nominating era: Win a state primary without a single endorsement from a member of Congress.

In a testament to the oddity that is 2016, just days before primary voting begins, Trump -- the GOP frontrunner that the GOP refuses to believe is the frontrunner -- has yet to win the official support of any elected official on Capitol Hill.

This is from a MSM publication that hates Trump and conservatives in general.

From the article:

"endorsements are typically a predictor of candidate delegate totals. More than that, the authors claim endorsements have real impact on candidates winning the nomination."

It is truly unprecedented for a candidate to be as successful as Trump without a single endorsement from a Washington D.C. office older. Add to that the fact that the entire media is trying to destroy Trump. He is called a racist, a bigot, a xenophobe, a women hater, a liar and a reality TV character. Trump is called rude, loudmouthed, vulgar, bombastic and every other insult you can think of.

The National Review has attacked him. Fox News has attacked. Jeb Bush bought billboards calling Trump unhinged. Every MSM TV show and publication has attacked him.

No one of prominence or power in the media or politics has endorsed him but still Trump is winning by a landslide.

With congress approval rating, I can see why political endorsements could be poison.

In this election, the lack of political endorsements will be seen as a higher level endorsement.

Hmm...I might suggest a beneficial alteration:

No one of prominence or power in the media or politics has endorsed him AND still Trump is winning by a landslide.

Cause and effect? Bernie's a little short on establishment support as well. This election is shaking things up that have long needed it.

Yep. I wouldn’t expect crooks to vote for the best sheriff either.

I thought HuffPo wasn't going to cover Trump anymore?

See how Trump completely owns the media and sets the narrative?

When just 14% of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing, who in hell would want the endorsement of a Congressman???

Much smarter to say “Absolutely NO congressional endorsements!”

“Bernie's a little short on establishment support as well”

Senator Sanders is part of the Washington establishment. He has been a Washington office holder since 1990 and is a long term Washington insider. Sanders supports all the Obama administration programs. He is supported by the MSM.

Only after Trump became popular did the MSM dishonestly portray Senator Sanders as an outsider.

Perhaps we'd be wise to re-think our identifiers ...

Trump is ... in a word ... a populist ... and if that's correct, the nation is populist and no longer the traditional nomenclatures ... R, D, I, S, C ...etc.

Nobody likes Congress, why would anyone want heir endorsement?

(Funny how not being liked by Congress is a positive for Trump and a negative for Cruz, though.)

Senator Sanders is part of the Washington establishment. He has been a Washington office holder since 1990 and is a long term Washington insider. Sanders supports all the Obama administration programs. He is supported by the MSM.

He's tolerated by the MSM. They'll defend him against attacks from the right but they don't want him to be president, so in that sense, they don't support him.

Only after Trump became popular did the MSM dishonestly portray Senator Sanders as an outsider.

It's basically true that Sanders is part of the Washington Establishment, but at the same time, it's a little embarrassing to keep saying that Trump or Cruz is so massively anti-Establishment and the guy who had a Soviet flag on his wall when he was mayor is a pillar of the American Establishment. It looks like special pleading: my guy threatens the powers that be and nobody else can.

There are different kinds of Establishment or branches of the Establishment. Somebody who's found a cozy home in Congress can still rattle Wall Street. Somebody who frightens Washington DC can be quite acceptable to corporate elites.

This is precisely why he is winning. He is running against all of DC and the elite establishment.

“Somebody who's found a cozy home in Congress can still rattle Wall Street”

The Washington establishment threatens businesses. They extort billions of dollars from businesses by threatening business. Sanders is a communist but so are many members of the Washington establishment. Communists paid for Bill Clinton's trip to Moscow in 1970 to meet with Soviet Party officials. The Clintons received billions from Communist China and gave China U.S. military technology. John Kerry worked with the Communists throughout his career. Democrats sabotaged Reagan's cold war efforts and helped the Communists. Most Democrat establishment types are Communist sympathizers.

Senator Sanders is the ranking Democrat on the Veterans Affairs subcommittee. He has used his position to defend corruption by insiders in the V.A. and prevent veterans from getting medical care.

Senator Sanders is a corrupt Washington insider. He is a member of the Washington establishment. He is for the status quo and Obama administration programs.

The MSM do support him and his position as Senator. The MSM dishonestly portrays him as an outsider. It is a lie.
