If there's one thing that Donald Trump has done for the leaders of the conservative movement, the Christian Right and the Republican party it's that he's teaching them a necessary lesson in reality: It turns out that a large number of their supporters don't really care about ideology, morality or even their supposedly mutual loathing of the hippie Democrats on the other side. Their concerns run to something much more primitive.

Wisdom? No. But thinking people should know how the opposition views them.

You could have posted more than a teaser excerpt. I’m not giving Salon the click.

For Salon, anything not dripping of Marx is radically conservative.

Although I am certainly not a trump supporter, anything from Salon is basically National Enquirer for the left wing. Nothing is substantiated. Nothing is vetted. It is just rumor mill against all things not liberal.

They do not want what is best. This is pure mocking criticism. There is some truth in it for those brave enough to read it. Their motives are all bad no doubt. That does not alter the hypocrisy on the right that they expose.

Plenty. Read....
As more and more FReepers (old and new alike) post articles, they really need to pay attention to what they are doing. I know there is a need to excerpt many articles, but remember - you have up to 300 words or no more than 1/2 of the article if it is less than 300 words. May I make some basic suggestions when excerpting? In addition to the above mentioned FR guidelines, please copy and paste the "who-what-when..." of the article. Earlier today, someone posted an article about a student getting arrested at school for an item found in his...

Oh. I have not posted in years and was unsure how long of a teaser I was allowed. It won’t bite you if you click on it. This is what Yahoo News feed is offering to its users.

The RNC/GOP has been using “conservatism” to jerk us around and not actually “conserve” anything.
We are losing our country and both parties are responsible for the flood of fraudulently documented foreigners.

Absolutely nothing.
Trump is a direct effect of Obama.
It’s just balancing. Eight years of Obama will give us eight years of his complete polar opposite.

Donald is not wrecking the conservative movement in my opinion. I do not believe he’s part of the conservative movement. He may make a very good president and he’s clearly a strong, effective, attractive- to- many campaigner. But conservative isn’t a word I associate with him. Liberal or perhaps moderately-liberal populist - that seems a lot closer IMHO. And yes, I may still vote for him if he’s the nominee ( especially yes yes if the D’s are crazy enough to nominate Hillary the Liar! But I think they’ll find a way to select a much more viable candidate than old.”I don’t Give A Damn, it doesn’t make any Difference to me” Hillary. — watch for a far more saleable D candidate suddenly showing up soon, imho)

another in a long line of articles by people who just do not GET IT.
We haven't abandoned our conservative principles, we are supporting the candidate with the best chance of advancing some conservative principles.
Heck, if Trump only does ONE conservative thing (get rid of the illegals for instance), he would have done more to advance conservatism than any president since Reagan.
Does this mean I hate Cruz? nope, no one bit. I respect Cruz, but the hard truth is I don't believe he could win in the general election and even if he did I don't believe he could accomplish anything as he would allow himself to be pushed around by a coalition of the left and RINO’s that Trump would mow right over.
