March 2010 is when two or more “people briefed by intelligence officials” (on an Iranian nuclear scientist, Shahram Amiri, who had gone missing in Saudi Arabia while on the hajj) were so interested in bragging about what they learned from the intelligence officials about the man that they decided to brag to the press about the scientist, informing the world that he wasn’t missing at all but had in fact defected to the US and was no longer in Saudi Arabia but had been resettled in the United States. It was leaked to ABC news’ reporter Matthew Cole and he wrote it up on March 30.
I wonder who thought it was a good idea to brag about what an intelligence coup it was?
