Cruz-Hating Republicans Need a Reality Check
The Dallas Morning News ^ | January 25, 2016 | Ramesh Ponnuru

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. This sound aphorism may have a less pithy political corollary: Never attribute to strategy what can be explained by emotion.

Only this truth can help us understand why Republican officials have started saying they prefer Donald Trump to Senator Ted Cruz as their presidential nominee. Congressional Republicans would supposedly come out ahead with Trump because he would be a stronger nominee and a more cooperative president.

These arguments are so weak that they can be understood only as rationalizations for a passionate hatred of Cruz felt by Republicans whom he has challenged. I’m a friend of Cruz, but you need not be one to see that anger is leading the officials to make a mistake -- or, rather, three of them.

First, these Republicans are wrong

You’re the one that brought up Indian heritage in your original post, I was merely using that term for simplicity sake.

I think I have been paying attention. People who prefer Trump don’t seem to have as much of an ax to grind on Cruz. They, like me, just like Trump better, but I like Cruz also.

There are exceptions and when I get the chance I have taken these people, some on this thread I think, to task for asserting unsupportable accusations against Cruz. But people who prefer Cruz seem to attack Trump much more. It doesn’t really matter. It’s not a contest of who attacks more.

It is an issue of the clinically dysfunctional “all or nothing” thinking which is way too pervasive on this site and elsewhere.

What does that have to do with the article or the author.
Forget the Ativan today?

I think Cruz was a lot better when he was standing shoulder to shoulder with Trump - against all comers kind of. I hope they get back to that again. I was hoping Cruz could be Trump’s VP.

It was included in my first response dingleberry! As for Adivan, I don’t use it, ever!

It is widely understood that we had an historical 25-year economic boom tied directly to Reagan’s tax cuts. I feel like I’m taking to a Leftist here.

We don’t have a lot of say about who we ‘take’. Most come here because of our “brand”, but there are always those who will come here because the place they left behind is a liberal wasteland and many of them try to bring their ways with them. Hence, “Welcome to Texas - now go home.”

The justice system example is not the “good old boy” way, it is the leftists having infiltrated our system & many of the schools suffer from it as well. The cities here are chock full of liberals just waiting to turn Texas blue.

I wouldn’t denigrate the video investigators, they were doing the right thing. Planned Parenthood, that is a NATIONAL disgrace & Texas has done pretty well at stamping out many of them. I don’t know much about the biker issue, but I think there is much to that story that we do not yet know.

Great! We can always use more Conservatives :)

You can get one of those bumper-stickers I see here that say “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here quick as I could” LOL.

I hope your move here is everything you hoped it would be.

WELCOME future Texan!!

And BTW, IMO, I’ve seen a lot more vitriol towards Trump coming from those who favor Cruz than visa-versa.

Like post #3?
