Anything short of this simply gives Obama a pass.

McConnell is giving the kenyan a broad brush here because he knows he’s not going to use it. Kerry is busy surrendering Syria to Iran and Russia. Obama is withdrawing the US from the ME.

I don’t care about ISIS. I care about all jihadis. This is a Carte Blanche to let Obama finally achieve his dream of jumping into the Syrian war on behalf of the rebels and to take down Assad.
By acting like ISIS is the only problem, they will ignore Al Nusra, The FSA, and other jihadis that are all McCain’s buddies.

that would give the president new authority to take action against the militant group also known as ISIS or ISIL.

And who else? Anyone who gets under his skin? Foreign entities only or could the 'unlimited powers' be used on US soil?

Citizens of Kentucky should demand his immediate resignation. RINO’s expanding Executive Powers under The Smirking Chimp’s administration is a huge factor in the abuses of authority mess we now witness today with the Obama administration.

For the record. I did not support expansion of powers under “W” some thought was so wonderful because he was a Republican. I do not support them for any POTUS including “ANY” on running the ballot today in any party or in the future. Anyone who would say Oh Goodie their candidate will have broader powers as POTUS is a fool. The “LIMITS” of powers of the three branches of federal government were for a good reason.

Couldn’t conservatives be declared ISIS/ISIL and have war waged against them?

obama don’t need no stinkin approval to do anything he wants to do, whose going to stop him, not Ryan or McConnell, not our Senate or House. Possibly the DOJ and Loretta Lynch, maybe some liberal judges the GOP-e has approved.

Sorry the post is so long, but I am just not every good at sound bites.

This legislation is another step in not taking the Global War on Terror (GWOT) seriously; just as Obama and McCain did in transforming bin Laden’s death into political theater by promising to “get bin Laden”. Bin Laden’s death or new war powers to attack ISIS hardly constitutes effective action when we are engaged in initial campaigns against terrorism as international statecraft. Instead he has crafted a document giving extraordinary political power without any idea or intention of achieving victory.

Victory requires seeking out and supporting the anonymous, selfless individuals and constituencies willing to endanger their lives and those of their families to establish durable economies and representative governments. As long as the Twelfth Imam and Wahhabi versions of Islam are fused into governments there will be no victory.

Parliamentary or bicameral governments where Islam is not a constitutional mandate are needed to defeat terrorism. Such African, Oriental and Asian governments bring (GWOT) victory by frustrating plans, breaking alliances and fracturing terrorist organizations into ever less effective units. Without cities, countries or armies they then live out unnaturally shortened lives as pariahs.

In this regard the Bush Administration squandered an opportunity that will not come again for at least a generation.. The Iraqi interim council of 25 ethnically and religiously diverse members produced the Transitional Administrative Law (TAL) as basis for a new constitution. The 39 articles were unique in the Arab world for conceiving republican, federal, democratic and pluralistic government guaranteeing rights for speech, religion, private property, etc. for all including Christians, Jews and former Ba’athists.

However, in 2004 the U.S. marginalized this extraordinary, indigenous effort and the people involved, when approving a new interim government compatible with traditional Arab authoritarian rule as envisioned by Algeria when it was a temporary member of the Security Council. An Iraq victory defined around the TAL was imperative and achievable for the GWOT by reinvigorating a unique Iraqi government with individuals such as those people.

True Bush was president and it was his responsibility. I think this is another case of him not exerting sufficient control over events as also exampled by his vetoing to few bills and keeping Clinton holdovers such as George Tenet as CIA chief.

Until someone takes the GWOT seriously, our country will be human and economic collateral damage as lethal Islamic oligarchies muddle through their technologically advanced Dark Age.

Too Legit to Quit

Has either Trump or Cruz issued a description of an action the’ll do or a statement? (I guess Trump can only do the statement thing).

And the conservatives who are against nominating Donald Trump because his conservative credentials are questionable at best -- who say we should instead nominate one of the "professional politicians" who self-identify as conservative -- actually think their's is a better plan. Yeah, right!

The "opposition party" has a long list of duplicitous members -- representatives and senators who will say what they need to say to get elected, then act completely opposite once they reach D.C. (McConnell (again!) and Ryan being but the most recent examples).

"Sheer lunacy."

Republicans and Democrats alike will vote for it.

And Obama will use it to overthrow Assad, occupy Syria and have a regional war with Russia.

Mark my words.
