He should do it himself and he can take kerry with him.
Are we going to go back and pull bombs from everywhere we battled? I could ask you Did the citizens of Germany and Japan that were just trying to live kill American soldiers or were they acceptable targets because of their governments?
Yes, the Communist Pathet Lao, Hanoi’s proxies, kept American fliers and possibly a few civiians and soldiers as POWS, or killed them when captured. We only got three men back after the war, and one pilot, Dieter Dengler, escaped to tell his story about imprisonment, torture, and death.
The Pathet Lao, today, along with Communist Vietnamese troops, are still hunting down and killing Meo tribesmen from Laos (our allies), and Montgnards who escaped from Vietnam into Laos.
As I wrote elsewhere, the Red Chinese had 10,000 troops (anti-aircraft and labor) stationed in northern Laos where they were illegally building major supply roads from Red China to Laos and then across northern Laos itself. This came out in detail in the testimony of Papa Buell, a key US AID leader in Laos during the war, in the House Internal Security Committee hearing entitled “The Theory and Practice of Communism (In Laos)”, about 1970.
Something very important in this article, namely that Ben Rhodes, Obama’s top foreign policy advisor besides Valerie Jarrett, is his key man to make losing deals with communist countries.
If there ever was a traitor in the White House inner circle, it is Rhodes (along with Jarrett, Axelrod, Anita Dunn, and maybe Pfoufle).
The easiest way to clear unexploded Ordinance is to carpet Bomb Laos which will set off the buried Munitions.
Sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution.
You’re welcome.
“... NOT cleaning up the land, waiting for someone else to do it.”
We had a video in church about some guy that was paying the poor locals to plant trees - more than 90% of the trees in some countries are gone. And the crappy water, etc.
It set my mind to wander about why that is?
The rulers? To some extent I suppose.
But - I think the biggest thing is freedom and capitalism. (I need to get around to reading that book “The 5000 year Leap”.)
Tell folks they can homestead the land and crow crops for a profit if they clear the bombs from the fields. Maybe some micro-grants so they can buy some used metal detectors.
I recall one African ruler that got it. Told the U.S. to stop sending them our crap clothing that won’t even sell at Goodwill - help out with some financing so the people can make and sell their own clothes!
We did drop a whole crapload of ordnance on that place:
Including a bunch of these things:
“... profoundly moved...” - I’m profoundly barfing.
Another Obma guilt trip.
In color...
“Now it’s a matter of resources. Currently only a small team of dedicated State Department officials, government employees and NGO workers in Laos focus on clearance activities, mine risk education and victim assistance.”
Follow the money ...
A good prospect for H1B’s.

Yes, it was a noble effort on our part to protect SE Asia from Communism.
But the Communists have dominated the region for over forty years now. Let them perform, and pay for, the clean-up.
Yes, that works. And btw, the bottom pic in #28 - those cluster bombs can be recycled and dropped on the long lines of islamic migrants filtering through Europe still.
