The calculating sucker punch I saw in Iowa wasn't from Cruz.

It was Trump saying he'd make sure the EPA pushed the Federally mandated Ethanol additive in fuels. Either he is meaninglessly pandering to the Ethanol lobby to get votes in Iowa (in which case his parsed words are a lie of sorts).

Or he has telegraphed that there will be no relaxation of ethanol standards (fuel oxygenation) which cost approximately 10% of the MPG you would get with straight gasoline AND that he has no intention of getting rid of the EPA.

Either way, (and you can't have both), someone is getting screwed, and cocktails haven't been served, much less dinner and a show.

Cruz said it like it is.

If the money isn't in corn, farmers will grow something else.

If subsidies aren't being handed out for ethanol, the treasury will be a little fatter (or just need less--those are our tax dollars).

Everyone gets one gallon free when they buy ten, in terms of mileage.

We can produce enough oil for that 10%, and import more of what we do import from Canada, maybe even build that pipeline and have 85,000 jobs too.

Maybe what Cruz said isn't popular in Iowa, but it sure should be elsewhere.

Beck is a KOOK, hopefully O’Reilly will cut ties with his “old touring friend” and stop associating with a known KOOK.

Funny, I didn’t know the New York Times, Keith Ellison, Mark Warren, Politico, etc. were conservative standard bearers.

That’s why I like Free Republic, I learn something new everyday.

Not trying to Foist my opinion on others, Just attempting to inform what I have seen in the past all over the world with the mass Celebrity Star following.....as I am seeing in the rallies.

I am sure there are those that went to the rallies will step back and consider what they are doing.

We have been done this road before in 2008 & 2012, it is the same type rock Star Masses that refused to even consider the consequences of what Obama told them he would do, not they are regretting it, alas too late for them and us who tried to tell them.

That is all I am trying to get across, Trump is saying what he wants to do and what he is for...heed the warning or not....it is what it is.

This coming from a reformed Trump supporter, ONLY because I wanted to win, but the warning signs are there and I stepped back to heed them.

That is really each persons decision to make not something you can foist on them anymore than they should do to you. I appreciate all the information/facts posted that I can research and make an informed decision. It is the “strong arm” pushing and hurtful comments that take away from reasonable informed decisions. Freepers are not the only ones who will vote so influencing people we disagree with here won’t win the election for whoever’s candidate but it does hurt civility here and makes us less likely to think about facts. This was not just directed at you but there are some truly abrasive people on both sides.

So, according to Beck, if I support Trump I’m a Nazi?

This will not end well for Cruz.

Ok, but I just noticed that, no problem. You guys are really going to get dumped on with the weather.

We had our bout of it just before Christmas, without power for 2 days. We stayed warm with a very large Kerosene heater, large enough top that I could heat left overs on and make coffee, what more do I need?

Ice so bad then many trees & limbs downed, neighbor piled his in our front yard and 3 others yards. City just picked them up yesterday. Same scene all over the city so they were behind. Didn't bother me, it's like when my hairdress messes up, hey it will grow.

Stay warm and thanks again for being civil in our disagreements. Time for my nap now......later.

Haha! Yes indeed he does.

He’s just been out of sight for so long, he doesn’t seem worth talking about anymore.

The Great GOP Investigators make Inspector Clouseau seem masterful.

At least he always eventually stumbled onto his quarry in spite of his idiocy.

The GOP just perpetually runs around the same statue over and over in a line with their magnifying glasses trained on the arse of the one in front.

Round and round they go with Benny Hill music playing in the background.

I’m as deeply unsure of Trump as anyone, but i do not think Glenn Beck is a source of any worthwhile view or opinion on politicians these days. He himself is hardly a conservative. He’s only “conservative” as long as it makes great money.

I really hate comparing Trump the man to Hitler the man because there is zip comparison. The things that were Hitler's friends -- anger, resentment, lust for vengeance -- are also Trump's friends.

THAT is the historical analogy that I see. And for pete's sake, the world's best and most solid advice is to put anger and desire for vengeance aside before you move forward. Yet people are flat praising Trump for appealing to their anger and desire for vengeance -- "Stick it to them, that damned ol' GOPe! Deport those damned illegals NOW, by the busload!! I love seeing liberals heads explode!"

Sheesh. Indulging anger and vengeance for the established power. Wrong mission, wrong goal.

My goal with my vote is to advance limited government conservatism; for more than 30 years I thought that was what the Republican party stood for, but it has left me. It left me back in '08, with McCain. Palin will get me to vote for a wrong guy only once.

Funny, I didn't know the New York Times, Keith Ellison, Mark Warren, Politico, etc. were conservative standard bearers.

I confess I do not partake except very occasionally of my dad's favorite, Thomas Sowell. As for Beck, well, at least he's more interesting than Medved, the few times I've ever listened to either of them. I always end up turning them off.

All I can say is that outside of formal media, on FR as well as outside in my general circles, the similarities between now and 1930s are often pondered. By people a whole helluva lot more conservative than Medved.

I wish Ted would distance himself from Beck a bit.

Except Trump’s daughter is Jewish and at least one of his son’s married into a Jewish family. Except for all that, he’s so so close to Hitler.

I listened to Beck for a bit this morning. Not long as I couldn’t stomach that much. He is totally delusional and needs serious professional help.

He is a lot like Mike Church.

Hitler had Austria on his birth certificate, just like Ted has Canada on his. So, if there's a parallel, it works a lot better with Ted in the role of Hitler than with Trump in that analogy.

Hitler united Austria with Germany, the same thing Hedi Cruz advocates doing with the US and Canada but with the US adopting the lesser rights of Canadians rather than Canada adopting our Constitution.

Beck carefully chose his little talking points leaving out a major factor or two. Maybe the light wasn't very good when he was reading from tablets he keeps in a hat.

Bringing Nazis into it is where people will reject his opinion.

Cruz can’t dump this whack job because he needs Beck and Barton for cash.

Beck is a manic depressive or something.
