The Obama administration is "blatantly breaking the law" with its implementation of the new Visa waiver program, Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) and Rep. Candice Miller (R-MI) argue. The terror attacks in Paris urged lawmakers to launch a bipartisan effort to strengthen the program. McCaul and Miller, along with other members of Congress, asked the White House to consider a national security and law enforcement waiver only for certain individuals intending to enter the country. They made this clear in their proposed Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015, which passed 409 to 21. Instead, the administration circumvented Congress to implement a much broader program.
"The Obama Administration is blatantly breaking the law, a law the President himself signed. All waivers announced by the White House were explicitly rejected by Congress during our negotiations with the Administration. This is not a difference of opinion over statutory interpretation, it is a clear contradiction of the law and the agreement we reached with the White House. President Obama is again putting his relationship with Iran's supreme leader over the security of Americans. He cannot rewrite the law to appease foreign governments—he should instead pay attention to his own. The will of Congress was clear with this legislation, yet now the executive branch is blatantly planning to violate it. We will respond and are reviewing our options.â
Congress is especially frustrated about the exemptions offered to individuals who have traveled to Syria, Iraq, Iran and Sudan for government, humanitarian or journalistic purposes. These waivers from security requirements, McCaul said, were absolutely rejected during negotiations.
In December, Miller penned a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, reminding the officials that Congress "did not allow" for the program to waive the travel prohibition for an entire class of individuals.
Now that the Obama administration has dutifully ignored Congress' wishes, all we can do is wait to see what this means for our national security.
Going to be completely cynical here:
End of the American Republic, Start of the American Empire

The leaders no longer care what the rabble ie. citizens think.
Obama is breaking the law? So what really is news today.
Defiant Obola, ValJar, Huma, and crazed democrats showing you how much they love our country and care for the well being of American citizens...
RE: new Visa waiver edict
Big deal, he’s breaking the law.....AGAIN!. Listen you ass-wipes in the Republican party. Until you withhold funding for his crap he’s going to piss all over all of us. So STFU and stop him cause God knows the people have only one single option.
When hasn’t he broken laws.
As mentioned in related threads, Congress has the constitutional authority to stop lawless Obama dead in his tracks concerning such actions, but stubbornly refuses to do so.
Remember in November !
Until these “representatives” use the power of the purse, this administration will continue to break the law. They set the precedent a long time ago and Obola knows he can get away with anything.
Gee—Usually when someone breaks the law they’re arrested and put in jail.
What can we do about it except write angry letters to them about it and throw shoes at the TV?
well said.
The Hussein White Hut is working overtime. Oh, I'm sure there's a plan and schedule for all of this. One law broken a day - for the next year? Pffft. Catch him if you can. The Kenyan is now on offense.
That POS definitely needs to be sentenced to Leavenworth federal Prison for at least 500 Years
Great job
The Dems will have no reason to complain when president Trump does whatever he pleases for eight years.
Where's the lawsuit? Hello?
“The will of Congress”, “The will of Congress”, “The will of Congress”
Congress has no will, that’s why you have a President who knows he’ll get away with the high crime of intentionally breaking the law. Congress began losing its spine in the 1940s and it has been making itself weaker ever since. For the GOP it is the negligent consequences of accepting excessive executive power just ‘cause they like the occupant of the White House at the time, and for the Dims it is in part the same, and in part by treasonous intent - that Congress should be weaker.
About as news worthy as the fact Republicans just voted to give him the money to break the law.
Now the Republicans are going to stamp their feet a few times and send a strongly worded memo.
Wait, that's not news either, is it?
