Republican senators start to unite: Anyone but Cruz

"Nooooo!" shouts Cruz half-heartedly as he lounges in the briar patch.

"There's a lot of people who don't feel he can appeal to people across the board," [Orrin] Hatch said. "For us to win, we have to appeal the moderates and independents. We can't just act like that only one point of view is the only way to go. That's where Ted is going to have some trouble."...

"An awful lot of us really didn't like to be targeted as corrupt, establishment bought by the lobby establishment," [Dan] Coats added. "It sure looks like someone was using it as a way to gain notoriety as the only true conservative in Washington."...

"I think people are concerned," [John] Cornyn told CNN. "Because obviously the top of the ticket will have a big bearing on whether we'll hold a majority of the Senate. We don't need any headwinds from the top of the ticket. We need some tailwinds."...

"There's no doubt he has harmed relationships among people," said Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, the 2008 GOP presidential nominee. "I would assume that all members would work with the elected president for the good of the country. But there is no doubt there would be strains in the working relationship."

For us to win, we have to appeal the moderates and independents.

In other words, they want a RINO.

The establishment RINOs are reading the writing on the wall and choosing the liberal who they prefer over the conservative.

They fear principled conservatism like an alcoholic fears detox.

Good to see you around again 3G!

.
The GOP establishment has been fighting Cruz for over a decade.

This will put the icing on his victory, ultimately.

It will likely cost some of them their office, in the primary.

Which ever man wins, and I support them both albeit for different reasons, I hope the Lord Graces us with the best man for the times.

I can't change what is going to happen, nor the outcome, but in my mind Hillary is the real enemy as much as the cabal in DC.

I'm done with the vitriol here this cycle, it is IMHO totally discrediting to this site and who we are.

Yep, that is why they hate him...he sticks to his guns...and they instinctively know he is better than them...that he is not on the take...and they hate him for it.

More of the GOPE made up new line of attack. Nobody is buying it and it makes them look even more stupid.

Bob Dole on Gretta just called Cruz a RINO. LOL

Old Bob is off his meds. I'm for Trump but no way do I think Cruz is a RINO

I look for Trump to pull out all stops to steamroll Cruz and go on a caucus/primary rampage in the early states and have the nomination wrapped in March.

Then he will have to end this ridiculous line of attack on Cruz and bring him back in with a meaningful place on his team. Otherwise, he loses the conservatives, and the presidency. Trump is an egomaniac, but not stupid. This whole attack line is a ruse. I just hope he leaves enough room to unite with all the conservatives after he has the nomination sewn up.

I wish I could believe DT will try to reconcile but its not in him. It’s evident in how much he relishes attacking.

Head fake, the GOPe is playing a chess game to protect their own.... They finally figured out the base is pissed off enough to THINK that who ever they endorse they think we'll turn against.

Maybe it's a double head fake trick.

They know that you would be on to the single head fake trick.

LOL. Come on man.

My money says the GOPe is betting who ever they endorse is going to become tainted, it's no coincidence Cruz is all of the sudden saying that Trump is establishment.

This is rather obvious to me.

Thing is, IF, they can somehow attach Trump with this they will amazingly get behind Cruz and do the same....a good game if you can get enough to fall for it.

Guess what, both Cruz and Trump get destroyed and who picks up the pieces, Jeb or Rubio?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'll bet on it, we can let Jim Rob be the arbiter.

You’d have to ask: Who do they think will appeal more to “moderates” Cruz or Trump? I’d say neither, and so the voters are less concerned with what the GOP-elite think.
