Long-Time Leaders of Conservative Movement Unite in Support of Ted Cruz
Breitbart ^ | 20 Jan 2016 | Michael Patrick Leahy

Posted on 01/20/2016 4:22:32 PM PST by Isara

The old lions of the conservative movement-leaders with direct ties to the 1960 signing of the Sharon Statement by 90 members of Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) at William F. Buckley's residence-are uniting around the presidential campaign of Sen. Ted Cruz with passionate endorsements of his candidacy.

82-year-old Richard Viguerie, the pioneer in direct-mail fundraising, makes the conservative political case for Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign with the vigor and energy of a man five decades younger.

“Ted Cruz is the best conservative candidate since Ronald Reagan,” Viguerie tells Breitbart News in an exclusive interview.

“He’s what we've waited for ever since Reagan. He checks all our boxes.”

“He’s everything we’ve wanted in a candidate. He unites the party in a way that no other candidate can,” Viguerie adds.

In 1962 Viguerie, then 29-years-old, was named the executive director of YAF. For more than half a century, Vigurie has dedicated his life to the advancement of the modern conservative movement.

76-year-old Morton Blackwell, founder of the Leadership Institute, YAF member in the 1960s and long time Republican National Committeeman from Virginia, endorsed Cruz last week, saying he "has consistently demonstrated his deep commitment to conservative principles."

“Yes, I support Ted Cruz,” Brent Bozell III, founder of the Media Research Center,...

...

“It’s clear cut that you are either with the establishment or you are with Ted Cruz. That is the new reality,” Bozell says.

“It is the Republican party that has disdain for conservatives,” he adds.

"Ted Cruz has made virtually all of them [in the Republican establishment] feel uncomfortable. The sin he commits is honoring his promise," Bozell says. “What they, the GOP establishment, want is unanimity in dishonesty,” he notes.

“That’s why I urged Ted Cruz to run for President. I’ve urged him since about five minutes after he was elected to the Senate [in 2012],” Bozell explains.

Cruz, conservative or not conservative, reminds me of a lawyer trying to substitute lawyering for leadership.

Here is Ted Cruz certificate of birth. This, and the Canadian Law at the time, says he is a Natural Born Canadian.

Let me tell you how this works. I KNOW because I am an American who lived in Canada at the time of my daughter's birth.

As a result of my work assignment, my daughter has a Canadian birth certificate, not an American birth certificate. What she DOES HAVE is a Consular Report of Birth Abroad. I suspect Ted Cruz has the same.

As a natural born citizen, my daughter was NOT naturalized. She did not have to take a test, meet a residency requirement, swear allegiance, or go through a ceremony. She was a citizen from the very instant I cut her umbilical cord.

Please read over that last sentence until some degree of understanding sinks in... She was born with her US citizenship. She was an American citizen from the moment she drew her first breath.

What came later, via the Consular Report of Birth Abroad, is the documentation she would need later in life to prove her citizenship. You can read all about it on the US Department of State website.

Some may try to establish their own definition of Natural Born vs. Naturalized, but here is the take-home quote from the State Department website that anyone should be able to understand: "A Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. citizen is only issued to a child who acquired U.S. citizenship at birth" You can Google the URL yourself if you don't want to take my word for it.

What this all means is that Natural Born means US Citizenship at birth. Naturalized means citizenship came at some point after birth. It is a very simple concept unless your intention is to contort the situation for some purpose.

I get e-mails all the time from Rand Paul. Not sure why because I’ve never supported him or donated to him but I like him okay.

He had a fun one today where he compared Trump to Gollum in Lord of the Rings.

I don’t think so. Even if there was a grain of truth in what you said, he is not as disliked as Trump is.

A whole lot of people hate Trump and Cruz could easily win a presidential election.

No sure what you mean by ‘over the top religiosity’... do you mean they are religious?

He’s the best looking candidate in the race. And he has normal hair.

I glanced through the posts here but all the Trump supporters were too stupid to bother responding to.

Keep up the good work.

Have you ever taken out a loan? Does the bank own you?

I have taken out loans from a number of banks, but they don't own me. They own the money I borrowed.

Now tell the truth... Do you REALLY believe a bank owns somebody when they loan them money?

Or are you just parroting something you heard your cult leader say?

And by the way, have you considered that Trump may have taken out loans over the years? Do those banks own him?

The odd thing about Mr. Viguerie is that he is now a strong opponent of capital punishment.

Bob Dull must have figured out that he found he could get more attention coming out against Cruz than he could FOR his old rival’s son, Jebbie.

Self-Centered?
Split personality?
Slinks around?
Hold up his prized possessions and says, “My Precious!”?
Likes seafood?

Why did Rand make the comparison?

One would think that if Ted Cruz had one he would have produced it by now. There is no doubt that you daughter was an American citizen at birth. Because you, Wayne, are her father, and you are an American, she is probably a natural-born American citizen.

The original-intent of the words in the Constitution derived citizenship through the father. The original-intent of the Constitution was that a woman took on the citizenship of her husband. Now, I don't think that is right, and Lawrence Tribe doesn't think that is right, but Ted Cruz says he is for the original-intent of the Constitution.

So, either Ted Cruz is a original-intent Constitutionalist and therefore ineligible to be President or he is a living-document Constitutionalist and eligible to be President. It is one or the other, but it can't be both.
