Just how Harry Reid became a wealthy man during a lifetime in politics is the subject of a Wall Street Journal editorial that questions the Democratic Senate majority leader's ethics.

"[Reid] attributes it to shrewd investing, and we wonder if that includes the sweetheart retirement deal he's trying to score with some $600,000 in campaign and political action committee funds," the Journal writes.

"Federal Election Commission regulations allow former Members of Congress to use leftover campaign funds for things like organizing their congressional papers, but spending campaign cash for personal use has long been prohibited."

from the article:

-Mr. Reid seems to think that holding a powerful political office has its privileges even if he’s no longer in office. If you want to know why Americans loathe politics, Mr. Reid’s behavior is a prime exhibit.”-

Very well put.

He has to give 50% of the money to his partners or they will beat him around the head again.

He wants to spend it on security so his drunk brother can’t beat the snot out of him again. Er, um I mean he wants to use it on safer workout equipment. Yeah, that’s what I meant to say.

sheesh. He gets retirement check, medical, travel, staff, office, and all kinds of other goodies and yet he wants the 600K too.

However, now that I think about it, I hope he gets to keep it. He’s filthy rich anyway. The reason is because then that money won’t go toward electing Democrats. In all honesty it is a win-win for us. Getting rid of Reid is worth 600K.

Harry will get a stock tip about what is going to tank, use the 600k to short the stock, use those proceeds to buy the stock as it goes back up and give up the 600k as a “whoopsie.”

If I was a criminal in this admin, that’s what I would do.

“Shrewd investments” my ass! Prior knowledge of federal government purchases of land that he, his family or friends somehow manage to end up with just prior to the federal government turning it into a sanctuary for the blue-balled redbird might have something to do with it.

All remaining unused campaign funds can be transferred tax-free into a non-profit organization controlled by the campaign benefactor. Bob Dole did this with $40 million left over in his campaign fund.

“Shrewd investing” is a blatant lie on its face. Thanks to exemptions from insider trading laws, members of the Senate were all able to become gazillionaires just with the guidance of their corporate friends, without even thinking.

As if he doesn’t have tens of millions of dollars in graft stashed away from his long corrupt career in politics.

I wonder why he is bothering with this what would be to him, “chump change”.
