Ted Cruz Hates “New York Values” But Sure Loves New York Money
The Intercept ^ | 1/14/2016 | John Schwarz

Posted on 01/15/2016 7:21:08 AM PST by lodi90

On Tuesday on the syndicated Howie Carr Show, Ted Cruz declared that Donald Trump "comes from New York and he embodies New York values." That night on Fox, New York-born Megyn Kelly asked Cruz to explain exactly what "New York values" are. Cruz responded: "The rest of the country knows exactly what New York values are, and I gotta say, they're not Iowa values and they're not New Hampshire values."

Yesterday Kellyanne Conway, president of Keep the Promise I, one of four significant pro-Cruz Super PACs, endorsed Cruz's anti-New York perspective: "New York is home to many wonderful people and places, but the emphasis is more on money than morality. The line to get into Abercrombie & Fitch is a mile longer than the line to get into St. Patrick's Cathedral."

But here's what Cruz and Conway haven't mentioned:

Keep the Promise I is registered in New York and has raised $11,000,000 from a single New Yorker, financier Robert Mercer. Mercer is co-CEO of the hedge fund Renaissance Technologies, located on New York's Long Island. The Super PAC's only other donor is from Florida and contributed $5,000, so Mercer has provided 99.95 percent of its money.

KellyAnn is dead wrong. Last time I went to St. Patricks it was MOBBED. The church nave was filled with the faithful attending Mass, and tourists were consuming every square foot beyond that.

Cruz loves New York gays when it’s time to get that campaign money:
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/24/us/politics/at-new-york-reception-ted-cruz-is-said-to-strike-different-tone-toward-gays.html

Cruz, a guy who spent most of his adult life at Ivy league schools and Washington DC has a lot of gull playing the hayseed, flyover card now.

“Cruz: -Ya’ll are a bunch of idiots, so please vote for me!”

Pretty much, and we are supposed to be wowed by this incarnation of genius.

Because he gets more GOP voters by bashing NY in primary states. No true conservative can ever win New York with its current demographics. NYers like to bash red staters and even Jerseyites so they need to grow a pair when it’s tossed back at them.

Why was it ill advised when NY will not be in play in the general election, especially considering its current demographics? It’s all about the narcissism of being the media capital of the US.

NY is not conservative and much of the population is comprised of red state and christophobic narcissists. Just because a declining population of white proles attend mass (look at the voting habits of Catholics in NY sometimes) does not change this fact.

Those proles you saw on 9/11 are a minority of the population there, much of NYC and its environs are comprised of yuppie/hipster liberals and non-European immigrants. “Remembuh Noin Elevin” is the NY proles version of Godwin’s law.

Trump will win New York - rather easily, I think.

I’m sorry, but this feigned outrage over Cruz’s comments are just plain silly. I’m a YUGE Trump supporter, but I knew exactly what Cruz meant by his comments, and so did those acting outraged. NYC is a liberal cesspool. On this Ted was correct!

It was ill-advised to over-generalize because it allowed Trumps to score. By the way I like them both.

“Because he gets more GOP voters by bashing NY in primary states.”

Actually, it has led me to look more closely at Cruz and his wife’s ties to New York banks, the Bush administration and others such things.

If you are running for president of the United States, it is a good idea not to attack big chunks of the United States. Unless one is a community organizer type.

Cruz’s oblique personal attack via the entirety of a city was stupid.

“Cruz better be careful painting in broad brushes.”

Agreed. I am from NY and there are nothing wrong with my values. There are lots of people here who lost their homes due to Superstorm Sandy who would not throw a bucket of urine on Cruz if he were on fire, myself included. He strikes me a a huge phony and a liar.

Cruz knows he made a mistake and has sharpened his jab at NY. Yesterday it was “New York” values and today it is “New York City” values.

So as much as Team Cruz wants to brush this off obviously the campaign is worried about how Cruz is perceived. We’ve had a divider in chief for 8 years. We don’t need another one.

Iam from Staten Island which is a part of New York City. My family and I are church going law biding citizens, not libertine drug addled types. Many of the crappy people in NYC are from elsewhere. They came here to work and when they settled in they took over nice neighborhoods and brought their crappy values with them. Most native NYC people are good eggs.

If you are a conservative, New York is the enemy. It does is no good to make nice nice with my home state. Don’t fall for the media bait that Narcissist York is “just another part of America.” You never lose votes by bashing New York.

“Now you know what it is like to be a California FReeper.”

Yep, it’s our fate out West. Some here even comment how SF, etc should drop off in the Pacific... But EVERYONE who isn’t a Trumpbot knows exactly what NY Values are. The only mistake Cruz made was not saying NYC. There can be no DOUBT that the liberalis maximus is concentrated there.

These are primaries! This is WAR. Some need to grow some callouses and put some ice on it.

I could not agree with you more. There is little that
pisses me off more than when so-called conservatives
side with liberals to play the ‘pretend victims game’
against a conservative. I feel the same when the target
is Trump.

As a Southerner, I have often been of the receiving end of such regional bigotry and dismissal. The people who use it are fecal smears. I note that you have zero problem with maligning everyone in a large area to gain a cheese dick, fleeting tactical point.

Cruz blew it. He also blew any shot at VP with Trump too. Cruz is now just dead weight that would hinder cross over appeal and would add nothing but cowboy boots he never earned and hair oil he can keep. He is not worth carrying, and he won’t be.

And as a southerner, you probably know what New Yorkers think and say about your region of the country. You are way too kind to those who don’t deserve it. Again, nobody is upset about NY bashing other than the residents of Narcissist York, who will vote Dem anyway. A conservative Pubbie will never win the immigrant, Asian, Latino, Yuppie, Jewish, hipster constituencies which together control the electorate up there.
