Pennsylvania Mayor Pulls Police From NRA Gun Show (demanded a 60% fee increase)

The mayor of Harrisburg, Penn., ordered his police department on Friday not to provide security for an upcoming NRA-sponsored gun show after the association refused to meet a demand to pay a 60-percent increase in fees for the service.

Harrisburg police have provided security for the annual Great American Outdoors Show, scheduled this year for February 6-14, in the past. Mayor Eric Papenfuse said that the decision not to offer the department’s services this year was motivated in part by the NRA’s opposition to the city’s gun control policies.

“We have an epidemic of gun violence,” Papenfuse told WHTM. “It’s no secret that the NRA has worked against the city’s interests repeatedly over the past year causing us to spend tens of thousands of dollars to defend common sense gun ordinances. We don’t need to be doing them any favors.”

That's funny. Like anyone out there is stupid enough to f*** with an NRA convention.

In any case, time to sue that piece of sh*t Mayor.

Well, we just had our last gun show here at the fairgrounds in Boise, Idaho. The next two have been canceled. There were two accidental discharges since 2013 and all of a sudden they are now preventing any future shows.

He’s a POS for sure, but the NRA shouldn’t have too much difficulty getting some armed folks to keep order.

Why is the NRA bothering to continue to have the show there? Move to another city that wants the money and business and isn’t gun hostile. Why give anti-gunners money with which to buy the rope to strangle you???

So, try deputy sheriffs instead. Screw the city.

Cars kill more than guns.

Do they jack up the police security fees for auto shows too? For area car dealers?

We wonder whether the mayor of Harrisburg, Penn. is aware that taking guns away from law abiding citizens results in higher gun related crime rates?

He would rather do something tangible like taking your gun away, than try to figure out how to take guns away from the mentally disturbed and criminals.

He must not know much about gun ownership and crime.

Yes. Paper fuse is a DamnocRat and graduate of Yale. Runs a bookstore. Clearly an overachiever. But what do you expect from a guy who names his kids Chauncey and Everett?

If the mayor rids his city of the gibmedats he’ll see the crime stats plummet.

Idaho sounds like Weenie World. They never should have let the Californians in.

Why are businesses even spending their money in these liberal hell holes? Spend the money elsewhere and let the liberals have their own little shows.

Harrisburg is the PA state capital, it’s in the middle of rural PA, and besides the Harrisburg expo center, there really isn’t a good venue in that area.

I think we ended up with mostly the conservatives that bailed on California.

Being a Realtor and viewing many homes, their are quite a number of gun safes up here.

My broker has a client who's accumulated 90,000 rounds of just one type of ammo. Lolz

Good. Now the NRA is free to hire private security.

Largely symbolic since they’ll still have traffic duties outside the Farm Show Complex — where BTW you can carry with a valid CCW. So “police security” is really kind of superfluous.

It’s okay——it’s for the children./s

.

Davis said that the move was not politically motivated. “It is not a question of politics, it is a question of saving our children,” she said. “We care about them, the NRA may not”.

Hire private security. Screw the city-which is bankrupt anyway. The losers are the cops who could stand to make some side money.
No guns are sold there-it is a trade show.
