The highest-profile celebrity to weigh in on Donald Trump this week may not be the actor Samuel L. Jackson after all.
Country singer Loretta Lynn, a legend in Nashville whose life story was told in the movie Coal Minerâs Daughter, is also talking about the Republican presidential front runner â and she loves him.
âTrump has sold me â what more can I say?â Lynn told me over the phone just before the start of Trumpâs rally Thursday in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Lynnâs friend, Phyllis Jones, 71, had driven to Rock Hill from nearby Charlotte, North Carolina and had called her famous pal while she waited for Trump to appear.
Lynn, 83, who penned and recorded country hits like âCoal Minerâs Daughter,â âThe Pillâ and âRated X,â still performs between eight and 10 shows a month. She said she has been stumping for Trump at the end of each show, and declared her support for him at an awards dinner in New York in early December.
She said her audiences generally respond warmly to her cheers for Trump, and thatâs unusual.
âWhen you get up there and try to say you want to see Hillary Clinton win, that wouldnât go over so big,â she said.
Other Republicans canât live up to the real estate mogul, Lynn said, but Texas Senator Ted Cruz would be her second choice.
However, she said: âWhen youâre advertising for the best, forget the rest!â
Lynn added that she wants to campaign for him.
âI just think heâs the only one whoâs going to turn this country around,â she said, but added she had no plans to try to contact Trump herself. âIâm going to let him call me.â

Id like to hear the details of HOW Trump wants to remake America great again.
He cant rule by dictate. What is his plan?
Errr....he’s got a book. Its called make America great again. You should read it.
Obama has set a pretty strong precident for just that.
Its on TV every day - u can hear it if you want to. Its on youtube saved for posterity every day too. Its on his website - plans for taxes, trade, immigration, 2d amendment, etc. That’s all for after all the Executive Orders are reversed.
The Dixie who? Never heard of them.
I think they realized they were really men and changed their stage name to the “Chixsie Dicks”.
By sucking up to KGB/FSB Putin, who basically seeks to restore the Soviet Union. /S
They’re about the same age, too.
She’s a writer and not just a singer. She’s formidable still.
Clinton’s campaign was enormously aided by “Lord have mercy on the working man” back in 92 by Tritt was a huge plus for Clinton’s campaign against I-Don’t-Know-the-price-of-milk, George HW Bush.
In order to provide ‘details’ on his policies, Trump would need to name the whiz kids, geniuses and other viziers who would advise him. But making their names public right now would be an umitigated disaster.
Case in point — Trump was a hotel builder but he took a shine to the casino market in Atlantic City, N.J. Of course, building and managing a successful casino would be WELL outside his field of knowledge so he hired the best advisors he could find and ended up making a killing.
I’m curious as hell who his advisors will be on foreign affairs, military matters, regulatory reform and a host of other issues. Hopefully they will be properly vetted and voted, unlike the illegal “czars” now in place.
thank you. that’s what I was going to tell him.
Trump’s policies are just as detailed as Cruz’s. And haven’t evolved since the beginning of the campaign.
Have you read his position papers? Hmmmm?
It would be a real stretch for the "bitch and complain" crowd to read a candidate's book.
Regardless, here is an example of Trump's planning: "Trump: I Would Put Carl Icahn In Charge Of Dealing With China, Japan"

Yup. Some folks around here are either stupid or just plain lazy.
It was not intended as an attack. I rarely watch TV so I don’t get much input from the MSM. Since posting I have read some of his positions. I am left with a lingering question of “how will he get Congress to go along with his plan?”
He has already released 3 detailed position papers that are studiously ignored by his critics. Studiously. Ignored.
