3 Suspects in Brooklyn Rape Are in Custody (NYT)

Three teenagers suspected of taking part in a brazen gang rape at a Brooklyn playground were taken into police custody on Sunday, a law enforcement official said.

The attack on Thursday night, in which the police said five young men with a gun separated a father from his 18-year-old daughter and then took turns raping the woman, set off waves of anger and uncertainty in the Brownsville neighborhood where it happened. Elected officials also questioned whether the police notified the public quickly enough after the attack, a suggestion the Police Department strongly contested on Sunday night.

Two teenagers, a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old, were turned in to police custody by their parents on Sunday, and a third, 15, was also taken into custody, the official said. On Saturday night, the police released a surveillance video of the five suspects in a deli before the attack. The police said the young men ordered the father to leave the playground, raped the woman and ran off before the father found help and returned with the police. . .

So where are the photographs of the perps? Oh they're “minors” so they are “protected!” And udoubtedly they are also Black. Bull$hit, when they commit this kind of an atrocity, they need to be treated as adults irrespective of their ages!

Well, God Bless them for doing something right. I know they raised the rapists, and obviously something was amiss in their upbringing, but at least the parents aren't lying for their offspring, and are requiring them to face judgement on this side of the grave. That is a plus. Good for them.

The parents turning them in was the one, and only one, positive part of this story. Thanks for pointing that out. I can’t even imagine the heartbreak of turning my kid in. But worse...I can’t imagine the heartbreak of my kid doing such a thing.

I agree it must have been very tough to turn their children in, but better to have them face judgement and punishment on this side of the grave than to lie and face judgement in eternity.
I am not saying they won't be judged for their sin, but they have a much better chance of repenting if they admit the crime and pay the judgement now, than to deny it and not repent.
