If we’re going to fix climate change, we’ll have to get creative
The Washington Post ^ | January 7, 2016 | By Thomas Kostigen

The developing world deserves reparations from wealthier nations as compensation for the harmful climate change effects that are mostly our fault. It's us who have tainted our global commons by emitting vast amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, and us whose actions have led to extreme weather and other disasters in the world's most vulnerable regions.

But a strictly financial mea culpa from rich nations won't be enough. Rich countries should also invest in geoengineering projects to provide solutions for those on the front lines of climate change: those who cannot afford to pay for more adaptive and resilient infrastructure or who happen to be geographically unfortunate.

Still, it is by human hand that our environment has been degraded, and it is up to humans to innovate and devise a modified world that is safe for all. There may be no turning back to pre-industrial times, but that does not mean we have to turn our backs on those trapped by industry's offenses. Tangible solutions are necessary to address the needs of those affected by climate change. Strategic options have timed out.

Shut off the hot air coming out of our White House and Congress as a starter.

Geoengineering. On the planet we're living on. Considering how exceptionally well humans are at predicting the adverse consequences of their best intentions, the entire idea gives me the willies.

Maybe do some geoengineering on the moon first so the race doesn't go extinct when your project goes FUBAR.

On Tuesdays I'll use a cosed oxygen Tank and "Soil" the air around me.

Let’s make certain that every strata of society shares in the pain of going back to the Middle Ages to ban carbon fuels. No one in cities should have access to automobiles. Only walking or bicycles should be used for transportation. Airplanes and trucks should only be used for the military. Every family should grow its own food so that trucks would not be used to transport food long distances. “Shared Misery” should be the motto of the environmentalists.

Easy solution:

Everyone who believes CO2 is a dangerous pollutant stops exhaling it.

Problem solved overnight.

Yes by golly, If We’re going to drop man’s CO2 production of CO2 from 0.00136% of the atmosphere to 0.00135% we’re ‘going to have to get very creative’ ie: EVERYONE will have to become poor and live like cavemen because 0.00136% of the atmosphere is sooooo very dangerous to the environment”

Cripes!

I started reading and stopped when he started babbling about the third world needing reparations for the damage we’ve caused. That stupid statement invalidates anything he said after that. I don’t read the words of morons any longer than I have to.

The developing world deserves reparations from wealthier nations as compensation for the harmful climate change effects that are mostly our fault.

This nonsensical assertion has no basis in fact. The writer does not understand what is climate change, how it happens, and what are the primary causes of climate change. Foolish writer!

Hello FRiend. We are in Benson in our favorite RV park. Just a heads up report. We are having a full scale blizzard here right now. Two inches of heavy snow and high winds in the past 30 minutes. Are you getting anything there yet? We were hoping to go to Sierra Vista tomorrow. Might have to put that off for a day or two.

OK, now it’s three inches.Really coming down hard!
