Misleading headline. ‘Ministers will consider...’. They won’t. This is a ‘Westminster Hall’ Parliamentary debate. These aren’t part of formal Parliamentary business and have a largely symbolic function, since any vote isn’t binding on government and the outcome will only be picked up for subsequent government business if the government chooses to do so. The probability that the government might do so is extremely low, even lower than the already low probability that there would actually be a majority supporting the petition in the debate, on which in any case there is no formal vote. The debate itself, however, will doubtless offer plenty of entertainment for this forum (inter alia).
Did Canada and the UK ever get reparations for 1775 and 1813?.

all WW1 debts were written off in 1932. And the UK’s WW2 debt was paid in full in Dec 2006.
BTW, Britain itself was owed billions from our European allies in WW1. And don’t forget that WW1 US troops used British and French planes, tanks and heavy artillery, as the US forces under Pershing had none of those.

America invaded Canada 1775-76 and again in 1813. Burnt Toronto in the latter. Got thrown out both times.
