Thanks. It’s also my understanding that the kid wore a men’s extra large jacket.
“He takes it out his holster to show Person B.”
Then person A is stupid for unholstering his firearm in public.
There was another, perhaps more significant element contributing to this kid’s death, and that’s an ethnic “culture” that glorifies criminality and violence, abhors personal responsibility and hates authority with a vicious passion.
True, so very true.
Typical ‘hood graffiti: “Snitches get Stitches.”
As a sidelight, I have always wondered how many adult ‘hood residents are simply completely unknown to the IRS. Working off the books, reporting nothing under their SSAN, no taxes, etc.
20%, 30%, 40%?
“Equating what goes on in urban wastelands like lil Tamirâs hood, with what should happen in the isolated outposts of civilization that still remain, is absurd.”
meth labs exist just about everywhere
Last time I looked the Constitution had eliminated skin color as a factor for guaranteeing a persons rights.
Of course certain sub-cultures have higher crime rates. Do people living in those areas still have rights?
You are insane, go watch the video of the kid and show me where he put his gun in anyone’s face... never happened.
Hes playing near a pavilion for most if not all of the 20 minutes of video there isn’t even another person in frame, so please go get your facts straight before you go popping off more drek.
I have no doubt he was pointing the gun at folks, as every kid I’ve known in my life does when playing with toy guns, yes even “good” wholesome kids, who’ve been taught by their parents not to, but your claim he was “putting it in strangers faces” is once again more absolute drek.
This attempt to blame the victim is insane.
The cops should not be facing murder charges for this, but they clearly screwed up on many many levels, and the city and police officers involved will face consequences for it, but this idiotic attempt to blame the victim going on by some folks here, is just mind numbingly stupid.
You're a fool. Your libertarian nonsense has rotted your brain.
The video I've seen doesn't even show him pulling the gun. There wasn't enough time. The car pulls up, he walks towards it, and boom. He's dead. Link
... it is impossible to tell how far it is pulled out, but what I have read, the gun was not found in his waistband.
There are a number of reasons why the gun was removed from his waistband after the shooting. But in the video, grainy as it is, the gun is never seen and if it was out of his waistband I would think we would see an object fall when he was shot.
Less than two seconds. The time between when the car arrived and when the kid was shot. How could he reasonably conclude that his safety or the safety of others was in danger based on that?
Sigh, so his stature makes him not a child? He was 12 years old, that makes him a child, there are no quotes around it, 12 years old is a CHILD.
I know an 8th grader who’s 12, 6 foot and 200 lbs, is he not a child?
The call to the cops, tells them he believes the person doing it is probably a juvenile, and that the gun is probably fake.
This attempt to blame the child, and yes, a 12 year old is a child, for acting like a child, makes him deserving of death is nonsense. Not one damned adult stepped up and properly handled the situation.
The cops aren’t going to, and shouldn’t face murder charges, but don’t try to justify that the death of this child was somehow deserved or okay. This was senseless and pointless. This situation was handled poorly and the city and the police officers are going to pay a price for it.
I am amazed how so many people on here think KIDS won’t act like KIDS, and when they do, just shoot em. I’ve seen kids do insanely stupid and dangerous things routinely, and its up to adults to step in and show them the right thing to do, not go, whelp, they deserved it.
Absolute idiotic.
You say that as if it would be a BAD thing.
This is a difficult case. The kid was 5’7” and 195 lbs. He pulled his “gun” from his waist area. Split second to decide for the cop. I probably would of shot to. We drill a similar scenario in tactical shooting class. 80% of the trainees “die” the first time out because they hesitate. That said I would probably go a long way around to avoid this kid and his friends; thank God I am not a cop and have the luxury of trying to avoid these situations.
Now if you are the parent of any kid you should drill it into their head when you encounter the popo just stand still and put your hands up. I am an over 60yo white guy and when I encounter cops I clear my hands and half raise them to show that I am not a threat. My private property is the only place I don’t do that when cops are around. It is just prudent. I have had cops thank my for this behavior. And no I am not a servant to the system. If I have to get into it with the cops it will be on my terms. The rest is what lawyers are for. I don’t keep an undertaker on retainer.
Totally different situations.
police training, point a gun at them and you get shot if police hesistate they get shot. no win situation since the toy gun looked real.
unfortunate the parents won’t own up to their son’s responsibility in this tragedy. He in a park waving a gun that looks real.
I didn’t say that. The fact is that this kid did not look like a child, and his toy looked like a gun.
Human beings are imperfect. Cops are human beings. Sometimes they make mistakes.
“We said he thought bit was a fake gun”
Thought. Not “know.”
Want to bet your life that some BLM thug gansta-wannabe is carrying a toy gun that really looks real is, well, just playing around and ‘don’t mean no harm to nobody.’
“The fact is, the citizens in the area who ran into the kid weren’t scared.”
They were concerned enough to call the police, meaning they didn’t know what the thug was up to with a gun in his hand.
“Should have stayed in their own neighborhood.”
Who? The thug? The police. . .thereby ceding territory to the BLM thug gansta-wannabes. . .why stop there, why not cede any area that has muslimes in it.
“Thought” but did not know.
Yep, Darwin too him out.
“This kid was not doing anything wrong, playing with a new toy gun like every child Iâve ever met”
Drawing the weapon/toy when the police arrive is not smart.
Never point a weapon at anything you don’t intend to shoot.
The video did show the thug drawing the weapon.
“Which I imagine would take longer than one or two seconds. “
You would assume wrongly.
