Ted Cruz: Republicans Love Him in Iowa, Loathe Him in D.C.
Wall Street Journal ^ | 1/27/2015 | Janet Hook

Posted on 12/28/2015 8:26:05 AM PST by Uncle Miltie

Sen. Ted Cruz is getting rock-star treatment at his 2016 presidential-campaign events. In Iowa ... a recent poll found more Republicans viewed him favorably than any other GOP candidate.

Among his fellow senators, by contrast, he is one of the most disliked men in Washington. He has been called "wacko bird," "jackass" and "false prophet"(by) Republicans.

...

"When we launched our campaign, the New York Times promptly opined, 'Cruz cannot win because the Washington elites despise him,'" he said in a video ad created by a super PAC supporting him. "I kinda thought that was the whole point of the campaign."

...

Former Sen. Bob Dole, the GOP’s 1996 presidential nominee, said he would have a hard time bringing himself to vote for Mr. Cruz. "I might oversleep that day," Mr. Dole said ...

"They hate him in the Senate because he’s not going to assimilate into their culture," he said. "They don’t want change, and the voters do."

...

Sen. John McCain, who called Mr. Cruz and his allies "wacko birds" in 2013, bridled last summer when the Texan accused Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of lying about a legislative matter. ... Mr. Cruz's criticism was like shouting a profanity in (church). ...

He also urged House conservatives to defy then-House Speaker John Boehner, who last year called Mr. Cruz a "jackass" at a Colorado fundraiser.

...

"I will give President Obama and the Senate Democrats credit," Mr. Cruz said. "They are willing to crawl over broken glass with a knife between their teeth to fight for [their] principles. Unfortunately, leadership on my side of the aisle does not demonstrate the same commitment."

...

"There are a lot of good candidates—I like nearly all of them," Mr. Dole said ... Then he whispered, "Except Cruz."

The race is closer than it appears:

Cruz will gain as candidates drop out.

The pro-amnesty Club For Growth loves “Surging Ted” enough to give him $705,0000 and they are Washington Republicans so maybe this headline should say “Some Washington Republicans hate Cruz.”

Certainly symbolic of the disconnect between Washington and everyday America.

I didn’t know that there were ANY Republicans in DC, because there sure aren’t any in The Congress.

Ted Cruz is the GOPe last best hope of stopping Trump so I am not at all surprise he is getting nice press from the mouth piece of the GOPe. Anyone serious about putting it to the Marxist Globalist running the country are on the Trump train.

Only Donald Trump is not wholly owned by the billionaire donor class.

Has anyone in the GOPe threaten to leave the GOP if Cruz is the nominee? Has anyone in the GOPe threaten to support Hillary if Cruz is the nominee? Has anyone in the GOPe threaten to run a third party candidate if Cruz is the GOP nominee? What does that tell you?

“Cruz will gain as candidates drop out. “

Yea, just look at all those votes for Santorum, Huck, Fiorina, Christie and Boosh ALL moving over to Cruz. He won't get anywhere near 100% of them, so until The Cabana Boy folds, we won't have a definitive answer.

This piece is very pro Cruz, I've read a lot of pro Cruz pieces coming out of the GOPe press of late. Yes there are still a few anti-Cruz articles. I have yet to read a single pro Trump article from any GOPe controlled press not a signal one.

As I said, only Trump is not owned by the billionaire donor class. We get fooled election after election into thinking so and so is different so we sent them to DC and guess what? Same old same old. Do Not Be Fooled Again. Vote Trump if you want to see real change in DC. Does ANYONE think Trump is the same old same old? Does anyone think Trump will not build the wall or that he will not enforce immigration laws. Anyone? The GOPe has earned Trump I just hope the voters are smart enough to send him to DC to represent FOR ONCE the American people.

They*re still in the race as far as I can tell. Cruz got most of Carson*s supporters, which is why he leads in IA.

Trump has insulted the remaining candidates, which is why he has such high negatives.

Let me get this out of the way first:

I will support either Trump or Cruz. I will not support any establishment candidate. I will not vote for any establishment candidate. That includes any Democrat.

Now, the facts are that Cruz has fought the establishment any time he could, in the Senate and otherwise. They hate his guts; ask Mitch (Harry’s Bitch) McConnell. He has backed conservative principles every time.
There is no more pure conservative ideologically, certainly not Trump. The establishment a-holes are being nicer because they see their dreams turn to ash, with the demise of Jeb, Kasich, Huckabutt, etc. They think, in short, that they can cut their losses with the election of a Cruz. Cruz won’t sell out.
My concern, with the election of either Trump or Cruz, is with purging the establishment. Speaker Paul Ryan is up for re-election, as well as the rest of the House, including Kevin McCarthy, and Hal Rogers. It is important and should be a TEA Party imperative to defeat them as well as any Democrat. This election is equally about the Congress. All sell out Republicans need well supported primary opposition.

They must not see or hear what Americans think about the "fellow senators"

Try again Wall Street Journal. You failed with this one too. We do love laughing at your misses though. I line my litter box with them.

proust:

jpsb in #9 conflates Cruz with the GOPe. He seems to be attempting to “speak for Trump supporters”.

Can you help him see the light?
